I did a Google search on those exact brands and nothing came up except references in alt photo sites. No stores seem to carry those exact brands Are you sure they are the exact brand names? Or are they repackaged, rebranded commonly available papers - sold at a higher price of course!

For example there is Arches Aquarelle 140# cold press, 100% cotton rag cold press paper. Is that the same as Arches Platine?

Maybe at one of these places, but you'd have to call to confirm:

    http://www.currys.com/paper/prodviewer.asp?catID=7
    http://www.abovegroundartsupplies.com/
    http://www.loomisartstore.com/

I'm going to actually buy the paper in NYC and bring it up with me for the PT course.

    Regards, Art.

In New York try New York Central Fine Art Papers, at 62 Third Avenue
    (800) 950-6111, and talk to David Aldera. I have read that many platinum printers purchase there. Arche's Platine and Cranes's Platinotype are speciality papers and are specially made for Pt./Pd. printing. COT 320 is also a speciality paper, and fairly expensive, but it is my favorite paper for Pt./Pd. Stonhenge is a more common paper and is used for other purposes but it works pretty well for Pt./Pd. You can also puchase COT 320 from Artcraft in Altamont, NW if New York Central does not carry it. See http://www.artcraftchemicals.com/

The reason I asked about sources in Canada is because one of the workshop members is from Canada and is concerned that it may be too late to get shipment on one of these papers if bought in the US.

Bostick and Sullivan and Photographer's Formulary probably carry most if note all of these papaers. Well, probably not Rising Stonhenge. Other good sources for papers are Daniel Smith on the west coast and Stephen Kinsella in St. Louis.

Woolfitt's Art Supplies, which is located in downtown Toronto, sells Rising Stonehenge and Arches Platine. I have bought both there. They also sell on-line. I haven't seen COT320 or Crane's Platinotype anywhere (there seems generally to be a smaller selection of papers here than in the USA).

I have found that the paper selection at Woolfitt's is much better than at Loomis or Curry's.

I completely forgot about them! Good reminder. You're right about them, they have a very large and complete paper supply. Much, MUCH better than Loomis or Curry's. There website is http://www.woolfitts.com/

The ridiculous thing is that, even though I grew up in Toronto, I hadn't heard of Woolfitt's until a few months ago. It's a great store -- a little out of the way for me, but I enjoy shopping there more than at Loomis or Curry's.

    Hi Dave,

Thanks. Formulary will also be providing a 25 sheet box of Cranes Cover 90# so we may not have to touch your paper, but it will be nice to have it there in case some of the stuff does not arrive. I am doing a lot of last minute contingency planning.
