Film "slipping" in Hassy A12 back

    Three days ago, while advancing to the next frame on a roll of PanF+, the winder did not stop but kept going. After missing a couple of frames, I winded the whole film like that until the end. The next day I tried another film and it was fine, the back stopped at each frame. Yesterday I tried a roll of FP4+ and the problem reappeared.
    That's on a new A12 back bought as a kit with my 501CM last Christmas. Everything has been treated like a newborn baby. I load the film carefully making sure that I follow the "Ilford mark" and also press lightly at the loading spool so it packs tight.
    The whole kit was seeing by a technician in the beginning of summer and the back was in order. Should I take it back to him?
    Even though it is still in warantee, the equipment has to fly from Crete to Athens and with inspection and repair we are talking about two weeks, so I would like to avoid it if possible.

    Any advice?

    Sorry to say... these are too expensive to let that problem persist and not have it repaired, especially when it is under warrantee. It may be a good idea to buy an extra used back fo a back up. I had to have one of my backs rebuilt by Hasselblad so it is not uncommon on an older back, but I have never had this happen on a new one.
    I would, if I were you, prefer to have Hasselblad do the work.

    Although rare,this does occur,fortunately I am within 10 minutes of Hasselblad USA, and I do also agree that the work done by Hasselblad is worth the effort. With the Digital fad,there are a plethora of quality used backs available on the market and I would recommend you to buy one when possible.At this point you can't trust the back and it will need attention of a qualified repair center.

    It happens, mine froze within 30 days after I bought it. Fortunatelly it was under warranty and I had it fixed by Hasselblad USA. Send it to have it fixed, better safe than sorry.....
