Other than product reports etc. Does anyone have experience with this lens or know of one in regular use?

    Thanks

Nope, though apparently they're selling better than expected (source: Mike Walker of Walker Cameras). But despite that, I doubt sales are into three figures yet.

I know a couple of people who bought the 550 but not the 1100.

Ditto here Roger, it seems awhile back someone posted on APUG that they were using both lenses...

also just wondering the manufactureres choice of focal length...the ic is listed at 900 which is ample for 20 24, it is a bit wide of "normal" for that format, but probably is a good all round focal length...subject has to get quite close for a head and shoulders portrait? So was the design mainly for good resolution in the outer part of the circle being used....any discussion?

How about Tracey Storer? He seems a likely customer for that lens.

Monty here on apug shoots an Ebony 20x24 and I think he is using the Fine Art 550 xxl on that format. Maybe Zebra will chime in. I think they are a dagor design but with much better optics and though the price is steep they do compare in price to a 24" dagor (if you can find a 24" dagor that is). I know William Corey just started using one and William is not one for changing lenses. The majority of his 8x20 work is created with an old 18" Kodak wide field copy lens. He is really pleased with the 550 although he says it seems a bit over engineered. But that's not surprising considering who is making it and the price. We're lucky in the fact that Schneider would even consider making such a lens with the size market it is directed at. Thus the price tag.

Yes I have Michael's article...thanks again Michael....I think Monty obtained one of Kerry's 1000 mm lenses from the Doc optics program....
