    Hi All,

As many of you know we have had ongoing plans to migrate Hybridphoto.com to DPUG.ORG. This is a joint venture between myself and JD Callow (long time hybridphoto admin and APUG moderator). The Hybridphoto site software was in serious neglect, and with no resource to support such an extremely niche community, we decided to expand the scope and convert it to DPUG. This now allows us to expand the userbase and generate enough revenue to support the community. New revenue may also lead to improvements between both APUG & DPUG since both systems share similar codes.

What does this mean for APUG?

APUG will remain as it always has. APUG growth is breaking records the last 2 months so do not mistake DPUG as some sort of fall back plan. APUG is experiencing more traffic now than anytime in it's near 10yr history.

    Long term?

I am hopeful that a strong APUG & DPUG can promote to the photo world that two distinct forms of photography exist, intermingle and are here to stay. This is my ultimate vision, so time will tell whether I have lost my marbles or not. The alternative is that the wider photographic community continues to consider Digital as the replacement for Analog, and this is not a good thing.. it is depressing in fact.

If you have any questions or concerns feel free to post or contact me.

    Thanks,
    Sean

I wish DPUG the best of luck, and have nothing against digital photography. but speaking personally will not be taking it up until I can no longer get film.

    Lost your marbles???

I don't think so. The more we can promote the idea that analog, hybrid, and digital processes needn't be some race to find a winner, but that they can live side by side, even, complement each other nicely, give folks lots of choices, the better for the community here on APUG, and for the community of photography in general. Hats off to you and JD!

John and Sean have always been a couple of my favorite people on APUG and the building of DPUG is a good idea and I plan to contribute here on APUG and DPUG moving forward.
I now I will just have to figure out how the ignore button works over there.

It already looks like a big improvement over hybridphoto.com. Good luck!

I don't think we have to wait that long.

Best of luck with this new venture.

I do the hybrid work flow and hope DPUG will get a lot more traffic because of the change.

I'll be hanging around in both and I'm happy to see DPUG launched.

Scanners are easy: I don't know how to use them, so I don't!

I'm with Bill. I'm glad the D'ers have a comparable site to APUG and I will check it out from time to time as well. I signed up a long time ago, so until my name change goes through, I will be under the REAL old 'flash19901' moniker.

Great to see - I have to undertake digital for clients, so any tips and trick I can pick up will be *very* helpful.
Analogue will always be my passion, but I have to accept that I *do* need to embrace the digital age as well - or I'll soon find myself out of business!! :O

I don't know how to use them and yet I still do. Classic definition of insanity.

I've spent today wrestling with my scanner, so this is timely.

Sorry for the dumb question, but, if I am a member here on APUG, do I have the same username and password over there? Or must I sign up as a new member on DPUG, because it's a different website?

I am not involved with DPUG other than as a member, however I do know that you will need to set up a new account over there. Pretty quick and easy, however.

    Hi Laura,

You'll need to create a new account. It was almost possible to share the accounts across sites but after hearing about some of the nightmares that come with it I decided to avoid it.

That's all right anyway, Sean. Some folks might want a different name so no one knows they're cheatin' on analog!:whistling:
