    Hi All,

This was a bit tricky :surprised: but managed to get it all running. There is now a Google search built into APUG. You can access it by clicking "APUG Search" in the right side of the APUG menu bar. I can't say this will solve all of our search woes but it provides a tool using Google's technology against our content and their search technology can be better than the forum software at times. I am still tweaking a bit and plan to also add gallery & classifieds search to the new search drop down box. The Google search results will remain within the APUG site. There are Google ads on the right side of the results but I don't see that as a big deal. I am not sure how heavily we are indexed but some test searches seem to work well.

    Thanks,
    Sean

Seems to work well. I was having problems with a search earlier (warming AND filter), and now I am able to get better results. For some reason the earlier search would not accept boolean the operator, while this new one does. Thanks!

Works better. The non-photographic ads are annoying and the look is a bit out of place compared to the rest of APUG. But if it works, I can adapt. Thanks!

Sean, I have no idea how it is technically implemented, but wouldn't it be possible to simply use a CSS stylesheet to more or less "integrate" the Google results in APUG style? So show it on a grey, instead of white background, and change fonts to conform to the APUG styles? Although it's still Google than, it would look a bit less crude and confusing to the user.
