I was a pretty knowledgeable photographer in the '70's. Life happened, know what I mean?

Just trying to get back into the knowledge of now a days.

Welcome back. There are many folks here on that same journey.
Lots has changed, and lots has stayed the same, all at the same time.

Indeed, welcome! Yes, a lot has changed, but what worked in the 70's still does. Some materials are gone, some are changed, but what was a good photograph then is still a good photograph. It might be hard to resist the digital siren song (and if you're a shooter of gazillions of takes per subject maybe you shouldn't), but traditional work is still very much alive and thriving. I hope you enjoy yourself here. There are many on the same path.

    Welcome to APUG from NYC.

I think your journey here is similar to that of many of us. Some of us have dallied with digis - and some of the working pros here have no choice but to do so. But we all share a deeper relationship with film photography.

Welcom and good for you, sticking with film. Mind you it can be lonely out there surrounded by digis. When I see a fellow film user nowadays at any location I have an uncontrollable urge to strike up a conversation- rare beast that he/she is. Even if he/she is a 1000 yards downwind. Even at that distance you always know them. Some by the film wind-on action and manual focusing and all by the giveaway action of not looking instantly at the back of the camera for the picture they've just taken.

Hi RB, what cameras do you use and will you setup a darkroom, color or black and white? What did you photograph in the '70's, any specific interests?

Welcome to the site and good luck, it's never too late for a comeback in photography.

A very familiar story around here.
This is a great place to catch up on materials and hardware availability and sources after a many year sabbatical.
