    If you have $49,000 lying around and are so inclined to spend it, you could get this camera. It's the first production Leica IIId! I would think anyone who spends that kind of money on a camera would probably not use it. Would they even display it? :smile:

    It's madness. I personally cannot stand the idea of a camera having been made and it not being used. Think of all those lost photographs!

    If someone collects cameras and can afford to spend $49k on a rare one to add to their collection, then why shouldn't they? I suspect that they can probably afford a few dollars more to spend on one to use (and some more dollars to build a display case to keep the historically important one in good condition).

    Why does the serial number end in #2 ? Was #1` a prototype?
