The Adelaide Film And Dark Room Users Group
    Hi All,

After some discussions with my good friend Matt C, on a recent trip to Melbourne, we have decided to form a film and darkroom users group, funnily enough, called the "Adelaide Film & Darkroom Users Group".

I would also like to proudly announce that the Inaugural meeting is set to happen on Monday the 13th of June, 2011, at the Rob Roy Hotel, 106 Halifax Street, Adelaide, FROM 7:30PM - FREE ENTRY!

This meeting will be a general meet/greet and information night. There will be a discussion on what a group such as this could achieve in Adelaide and also to get ideas on how we can all share our passion in the future.

The group is open to all photographers who have an interest in Film Photography and want to share knowledge/socialise with like minded people. It doesn't matter if you like playing with Lomo or through to Ultra Large format. As long as it is film/traditional, you all are welcome!

Don't be afraid if you don't have a darkroom as the emphasis will be on Film Capture.

If you are interested and you would like to come along, it would be good if you could contact me or Matt via the details on the flier above. (we need to give the venue an approximate number of attendees if possible)

If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact me or discuss here.

I hope to see you all on the 13th!

    Cheers
    Ashley

I shall be there! However, do you perhaps want one more "a" in the email address?

hmmm, yeah. I was actually playing with abbreviated addresses and full length/word addresses. Looks like this one got caught about half way between!!! Doh (BTW, the address on the form is the right address...)

Bugger, Monday nights are impossible for me at the moment. But I'll try to get to a subsequent meeting, good luck getting the ball rolling with the group!

I should be able to make it, sign me up. If things change I'll drop you a note - that's the hectic part of the next few months for me. Anything we should bring?

Meh, does it matter if you shoot b&w ! I was thinking that we do need someone to 'document' the evening!

    Hi all,

Just a quick update. It appears that there was a misunderstanding between myself and the Rob Roy, so getting the back room is probably not possible.

As I have posted notices around the place, ect, we will still be meeting at the Rob Roy on the 13th, but it may become a bit more of a social thing.

SO, please all, still come as showing your interest will help to move things in the right direction and show if such a group is viable in Adelaide.

BUT, if anyone has ANY suggestions for meeting venues for future and subsequent meetings, PLEASE let me know.

    Cheers
    Ashley

    Just came across this post.

Sounds great. I have been wanting to get my rb67 out for a while now and this maybe the inspiration I needed.

    Monday the 13th...

    sounds good.

I will try to be there.

it is a public holiday that day, so wont be in town for work.

    Cheers,
    Matthew

Thanks for responding Matthew. Hope to see you there.

Just a quick update. Looks like there was a bit of a miss-understanding between myself and the Rob Roy. While it is still OK to meet there, unfortunately, we won't be able to get the back room.

SO, yes, the meet is still on and yes, it is still at the Rob Roy. It all depends on how busy (& loud) the place gets, will depend on whether its more of a Social meeting or a little more formal.

That being said, I am not undeterred. We will move on! If anyone has any good suggestions for a meeting place in central Adelaide (I.E., Adelaide, North Adelaide, Kent Town, Mile End, Goodwood….I think you get the idea!) that are cheap (read 'Free!'), please let me know

    Cheers
    Ashley

One of my friends at Uni sent me a flier for this meeting too, seems like word is getting around town. I'm still on track to attend, I'll just come direct from studio.

Is tonight! I'm collecting today a batch of FB (mostly Kentmere, one Ilford MGWT) prints I made on Saturday so I'll have a few on hand for people to look at. I forgot to bring my big stash of Cambodia prints in from work though.

I missed it, just too many loose ends to tie up right now - my final assessment for my bachelor of arts is this Friday. I promise I'll be at the next one, and bring along these three-colour photogravures that have recently consumed my life. I hope everyone had a rad time though.

Great to meet all you guys!

Can someone please PM me the email of the 4x5" guy I was sitting next to who was interested in a sink?

    Howdy all,

Just a bit of a report back from last night for those of you who couldn't make it.

We had a nice turnout of 8 people in total, which to me shows that we have enough interest to move forward! I went through a bit of a spiel about what I thought would make a good group and we just had a general chat, shared a few experiences and photos and decided that it was a good enough thing to continue.

At this stage, we haven't set a date yet for the next meeting, as it is venue dependent. Once we do, I will ensure that I post back here to let others know. BTW, if you want to be on the mailout group, please send me a PM with your email address (if you feel comfortable....I'm not a stalker!) and I will add you to the list.

    Cheers
    Ashley
PS, William, you should have an email with everyone in the group in the 'to' field. I believe that the person you are after is 'Mark'
