It's being reported on the LF Forum that Phil Davis has died.

He is the guy who created the Beyond The Zone System or BTZS.

    Sad news.

Sad news indeed David. A wonderful photographer, printer and educator. He will be missed.

Didn't know him, but he sure left his footprints in the sand.

I am deeply saddened by this news. Davis moved the stake forward probably more than any other photographer.

He left a legacy we can all be thankful for, a sad day indeed.

Sad indeed, perhaps the nearly last of his generation of accomplished, talented and modest photographers who spent much of their energy as educators both at universities and as workshop providers.

I took Phil's BTZS workshop in Bisbee about a decade ago and it remains the only photo-workshop that was worth the money- and it was great fun as well.

    Godspeed.
