Just a quick question: is photo-aquatint synonym with gum bichromate print ?
I would doubt it. More likely a synonym for photogravure.
Regular aquatint is an intaglio process where you bite the copper plate that has a ground and stop out varnish very much analogous to the ground and carbon print resist in photogravure.
It's an antiquarian phrase for the gum bichromate process but is also associated with photo gravure. Confusing isn't it.
