Well, I guess in the end it's about the intern's feelings, and one can argue about that tickling as photographic practice.

But I don't see this as humiliating.

I watched the first 30 seconds and already came to my conclusion.

Any person who stores a dead cat inside their freezer is crazy.
Any person who works for someone who stores a dead cat in their freezer is insane.

I don't think that was so bad, unless the feet stunk!

I see that the photographer is an eccentric and out of norm. I can even go so far as weird and rude. However.... from this intern's video post, I also see she was expecting to be treated as a fully capable employee - which she is not. She was an intern - a learning position. I really don't see anything she was asked to do, that much out of line. Sometimes, a photographer got to do what she/he got to do - excluding, of course, things that are illegal.

I'd like to hear the photographer's side of story before making judgment. This is one sided. I have no idea if 100% of what she says is true, and what may have transpired leading up to each of the key point she makes.

She also left me with a very negative impression. She says "she (the photographer) didn't THANK ME" when she was quitting with almost no notice. What was she expecting? I think, this girl is doing her more damage than posting this video for everyone to see. While none of us know who this photographer is, everyone will recognize this intern. Her future potential employer may see this video and some of them will think twice about hiring her.

So far, I see this as an intern holding a grudge against an employer whom she feels didn't treat her per her standard.

if she thought her future boss was going
to be "difficult" she shouldn't have taken the job
there are plenty of photographers who look for unpaid interns ....

it was 198x and she was asked to fill the bathtub with milk,
    would she have refused ?

What a whiner. She should get a real job, say on an assembly line or asking if I want fries with that!

"It's shameful behavior that give photographers a bad reputation."

    ...and all too common.

I did a bunch of yard work for a couple that kept their dead pets in the freezer until they buried them. While they were certainly eccentric (and thank god that eccentric people still exist despite our society's attempts to make them disappear), they did not mistreat me as a worker or as a human being in any way.

I feel this woman is irresponsible for working for free. I don't care if she has lots to learn, Giving away work services for free lowers the standard of the industry. It takes money away from those who are good and what they do and charge for it.

I don't think this is the case of free labor. Internship, when done correctly, is an exchange of labor for training and education. Both sides walks away with net plus.

In most Canadian jurisdictions, until the last 50 years or so, legal interns (aka articling students) weren't paid, in fact they had to pay their principals (bosses).

And it is still fairly common that articling students agree to work (for almost a year) for free, or a very small stipend.

Completion of a year (or so) of articles is a necessary pre-requisite for being permitted to practise law in my jurisdiction.

So unpaid internships aren't limited to just photography.

She graduated from Cornell with an English/Sociology degree. She probably expected to get a high paying job two weeks after graduation. Instead, she ended up being an unpaid lackey for some whack job photographer. Who has the problem? The photographer or her?

Too many college grads, these days, get upset when they aren't sitting in the corner office of a high rent office building a week after graduation. This chick basically got a dose of reality and she didn't like the taste of it.

The smartest thing she did was quit.

I'd like to hear what the model thought of having her feet tickled.

Feet tickled? She was lucky that she didn't have to do the ice on the nipple thing.

But then, how come that "case" got onto the blog of a professional? photography magazine.

First I thought that was an American issue of intolerance, the kind of glimpse of a man regarding as sexual insult kind of thing.

But the reaction of many other member showed me it isn't.

Entertainment value? I mean, "Alex" is one pretty lady and she gave quite a professional performance in her video...it sounded/looked more like a promo tape for an acting job.

I got to the point in the video where she didn't quit at having the photog insist on calling her Alex.
