Are there any good photography galleries or museums in the Phoenix area for black and white or color photography?

    Thanks!

Not in the Greater Phoenix area, but down the road at bit (in Tucson):
    1. Center for Creative Photography, University of Arizona (exhibits and archives of Ansel Adams and other major 20th Century photographers): http://www.creativephotography.org/collections
    2. Etherton Gallery - many exhibitions and gallery photographs: http://www.ethertongallery.com/
    3. The University of Arizona Museum of Art (primarily paintings, but some photographic exhibits): http://www.artmuseum.arizona.edu/events/event/reality-is-a-good-likeness

Phoenix Museum of Art hosting, thru Sept. 22, "From Above" / Aerial Photography from the Center for Creative Photography. The PMA is an excellent regional museum, they have a relationship with the CCP and often host (I would guess) very nice exhibits of photography. Haven't seen the "From Above" show but would say it should have strong images, well presented.
