    Ruth Bernhard celebrated her 100th birthday on Oct 14, 2005,
    portrait by Abe Arnow and article by Steve Anchell in Feb 2006 FOCUS now out, also Tillman Crane, Kim Weston, Francesco Scavullo....this is the best issue yet, I have mentioned each them and will review in another forum...

    This is the first issue I have seen of Focus, and even I, the worst of the skeptics did find some things of interest in this issue. I enjoyed the Kim Weston article even though I've seen no evidence that he shares the talent of his famous relatives. Hadnt made it to the Bernhard article yet, didnt even know it was in there. The article on her in the defunct Photovision at age 95 was very inspiring. I hope she is doing well. She is the last of the great generation of early-mid 20th century phootgraphers, I wish I could meet her.

    What is FOCUS? Googling Focus magazine brings up a religious magazine.

    I think it was originally called "Inked magazine"?, then it was renamed Focus.

    She lives in San Francisco. Not sure of her address, and even if I knew, don't think I'd just pop by. I probably would write her a letter and ask if I could, though. From what I've heard about her she's a fairly outgoing woman, and very fond of talking about photography with interested parties.

    She has my vote for greatest living photographer! I wish there were more books of hers in print.

    Ruth has lost all short term memory. NO ONE gets to see her directly. That has been for many years. Her guardians protect her very well.

    I wasnt expecting to anyway. I had the opportunity to take one of her workshops some 15 years ago and didnt, so i had my chance.
