Interesting. Do you have your work shown in a gallery here in town? I've missed it thus far and from looking at your website, looks like stuff I would really like.
No prints in galleries in Santa Fe...
I do hope to find a good gallery there...
Past year only exhibited in China and in Denmark... Santa Fe would be great!
I'm on vacation that week but in Mexico the week before. Will be leaving Cancun on Oct. 8th -- kinda tight hmm ...
This sounds great. Although I don't know the first thing about developing; even though I'm beginning to get DEBA.
After this workshop...
- you will know a lot about development in Jobo drums or in stainless steel tanks... using Pyro Rollo!
This will happen even if the workshop "focus" is how to approach a given scene from a content - not a technical point of view.
Ronnie Layden's website:
Ebony 5X7U2E in Santa FE...
OK so the workshop will focus on concept, visual communication and composition and content.
However, IF you absolutely must touch a "live" Ebony 5X7U2E featuring rear shift and asymmetric swings and tilt - it will be there. I just received this camera and IF you bring a 5X7 film holder or two you can try the camera.
Thats a very nice camera Per, is that going to be the door prize for the lucky winner!!
First California landscape image...
taken with my new Ebony...
Forgot the attachment...
(Image is of rock in photo of Ebony camera above.)
Not a door prize, Mike...
... more like a door teaser!
OK,I can still dream, maybe one day.Nice photo, bet it did not take you but a few minutes to set up and take the picture with that camera.
Two minutes Mike...
... or was it 5 hours???
Can't remember,, I was busy taking my "1" picture.
Mmmm ... Ebony 5X7
If I had an Ebony,I would swear off donuts.
Think a post like this should come with a warning...
"Using this camera can cause sudden drooling, rise in heart rate, decrease of funds in bank accout and add friction to one's marriage"
Nice camera Per..
I'm in. [ I was in even before seeing the very nice camera ] Looking forward to Santa Fe, 1st time in NM for me...
Make sure to swing by the Andrew Smith Gallery downtown, amazing prints.
So far 8 photographers have signed up from the USA and Russia, plus one tentative participant from China.
This will without a doubt be the workshop for photographers seeking to increase their creative potential.
So with 16 spaces in total that means that only 8 (or 7) spaces are available.
If you want to participate please write me right away.
Be sure to write Santa Fe 2011 in header!

Would love to attend. I feel that I got so much from the workshop at your house this past November, it would be great to join in at Santa Fe. I'll have to start looking for a benifacter to help with the finances. For anyone having difficulty deciding whether or not to go, I would highly recommend any chance you can get to work with Per.
this is a WORK shop!!!
There will be activities every day!
Every morning we will go shooting at a new location from about 6AM to Noon.
In the afternoons we will have discussions, presentations of various topics such as marketing of your work using Internet, Social Media, gallery representations and self publishing of limited edition prints and books. There will be print reviews (in group setting and individually). There will be demonstrations on pre-exposure to control contrast, and there will be advice on how to make stronger compositions that reflect the philosophical content of the subject matter.
Portraiture - large format with daylight? Or electronic studio flash? You will have the opportunity to do both. With your large format camera!
And you will discover that a portrait is no different that a landscape!
In the evening you will have the opportunity to process roll and sheet film using Pyro Rollo from Bostick - Sullivan and alkaline fix TF-4 from Photo Formulary.
After film processing you will get the opportunity to make a few Platinum - Paladium prints on Arches Platine paper.
All materials (except film) will be provided.
We have secured very reasonable group rates at a small local motel!
All in all this will be a fun, high energy workshop (mentally - and physically if you like)!
Finally APIS 2011 takes place in Santa Fe from October 6 - 8. If you plan to attend that event you can stay a few extra days and participate in our workshop!
This workshop is close to filling up now. If you want to participate please sign up ASAP.
It will be great fun!!!

I would love to attend but unfortunately, this workshop date is a bit too close to my Mexico trip, and I don't have the funds to cover all the air-fare, lodging and additional travel that the workshop would require
We have GREAT price on accommodations!!!
Linda Craig who is co ordinating the workshop has gotten us GREAT group rates at a motel in Santa Fe. $55 per night!!!
While this workshop is packed with information and activities it can be done on a limited budget.
And afterward I could meet ya'll at the Second Street Brewery (my pub of choice down here). Highly recommended and Linda is a great person, I'd trust her motel choices, etc.
