APUG UK Print Exchange Round 10.

Hi everyone, I think it's about time that we kicked off round 10 of the UK Print Exchange. First off, if you signed up for round 9 but have not yet received a print can you inform me via PM. Anyone, who hasn't met their round 9 commitment will be excluded from this and future exchanges until they have sent their print. Secondly, you have a little over ONE week to sign up for this round.

I would be grateful if you could ensure that you register your interest on this thread as it helps to keep it near the top of the list and subsequently seen by more members.

    Exchange rules are as follows:

Please register interest in this thread and send the address you want the print sent to via PM to me (with subject line "UK round 10" please). Interest should be registered by the end of SATURDAY 10 NOVEMBER after which I will place all names in a hat and pick them out at random. I have kept a record of previous rounds matches so I'll try to ensure that people send prints to different people this round.

You will then receive a PM with the address of the person that you should send your print to.

Your details will have been passed to another in the group who should send you a print.

You will not be expected to send a print to the person that sends you one - just to the name and address that you have been provided with.

    Rules.
    1. Your print must have originated from a film/ in-camera paper negative (eg no digital process at any point please), but any intermediate traditional stages are acceptable .
    2. Your print should be on 10x8 paper (or larger if you wish, just dont expect others to send you anything bigger than 10 x 8 ).
    3. Paper type and finish is your choice, as is the subject.
    4. The image may be any size or format.
    5. Inkjet prints or computer manipulated images are ineligible.
    6. The addition of explanatory notes is optional, but your recipient may appreciate some background information, and if you do not say who it is from, they cannot thank you for it.
    7. Enjoy the experience.
    8. There is no expectation for critiques or comments to be made, although there is nothing to stop you asking for this if you wish.
    9. Failure to honor the agreement and not send a print will result in a strike, 3 strikes and your out. Past failings will be counted.

If you have a spare copy of your print then Simon Galley at Ilford / Harmon Technology would love to see it. I'm sure Simon will put it on the company notice board for everyone to see. Simon's address is:

    HARMAN technology Limited,
    Town Lane,
    Mobberley,
    Knutsford,
    CHESHIRE.
    WA16 7JL

Marked : For the attention of Simon.R.Galley

I received not one but two prints from Steve Smith today. Thanks Steve.

At first I was drawn to the image of the post on the beach. Perfect depth of field and nice contrast. And then the more I looked at the image of the three trees the more I liked it. Just shows that sometimes you need to go beyond first impressions when viewing prints.

I'm also pleased to see what the Ilford matt paper looks like as I've never used it before - it's very nice.

That's the flattest I have ever got FB paper. I used the 'heavy book for a few days' method. Anything I have tried in the past gave me temporarily flat prints which curl up after about a day.

    Hi Guys

I am having real trouble accessing APUG at the moment - basically, I can only get on to the site from my work PC and not from home as it continuously times out before connecting. This means that I only picked up the message from Brian this morning about my involvement in Round 10.

I can't see a deadline for this round but its unliklley that I'll be able to get a freash print out till after next weekend. If the deadline is sooner than, say, the end of the month, then I'll have to send and older print from my portfolio. How long have I got?

you got me there, I was thinking of a deadline, but never actually got round to posting one

Well, I think we should all aim to get our prints out by the 11th December, but as I don't intend to kick off round 11 until the new year you should all have a couple of extra weeks to catch up.

I received a well crafted image of the interior of Worcester Cathedral from Paul today. It was accompanied by an interesting tale of it’s taking.

Paul, just to demonstrate that I did make it to the end, may I suggest that you consider membership of the:
    Postal Photo Club

I’m in Circle 2, as are two other members of this forum. For a modest outlay you could receive 15 prints a month to enjoy.
