Excellent cosmetic condition but non-working Widelux F8 latest model, serial #355841. Shutter does not cock and release. Lens unit swings properly when cocked by hand, so I think the problem is confined to the shutter release mechanism. Body shows no signs of wear. Finder clear and bright. Bubble level perfect. Interior mint. New light seals. No dings, no scratches, no dents. Chrome knobs and trim are mint. Shutter release button has a Leica-type screw-on collar which is missing. Simple to replace. Tripod socket is missing. Maybe not so simple to replace.

I've bought and sold a few items here on APUG and I have 100% positive feedback rating with 665 transactions on eBay as Cameraprofessor.

Any idea where to get these serviced? Last I heard was on jeffbridges.com -- some dude in New Jersey IIRC.

These are wonderful cameras, speaking as an owner and user. Surprisingly sharp lens and really fun to work with.

    Service for Widelux

I called Gus Lazzari (recommended by Ken Rockwell) and Gus assured me that he could service the Widelux. I also have a local guy in NJ but he's very slow and doesn't want any new clients.

    Quote from Ken Rockwell:
"Gus can fix anything, and never leaves any tracks. He fixes classic Leica cameras, too, so Nikons are easy for him. Gus has worked on many cameras for me."

    Gus has repaired Wideluxes before...

...so he knows of what he speaks. Very nice guy. I was on the phone with him for about 1/2 hour and he knows his limits.

I just don't have the funds for the repair. Gus quoted about $245, I believe. But I just bought a car and I'm saving for an M9.

Bob Watkins at Precision Camera was the factory authorized repair person for Widelux when they were in business and still has parts. He has done lots of work for me (although not on Widelux) and I highly recommend him.
