I have just learned that William Garnett passed away on August 26 at his home in Napa, California. His aerial photography, in my opinion, ranks with the best fine art photography done to date. He received three Guggenheim Fellowships and his work has been exhibited and collected worldwide. He was 89.

Sad news indeed. Truly wonderful work.

Here's a link I just bookmarked the other day. This is one of my favorite images of all. Amazing how many photographers make it to 90! One can only hope.
