Tamron lens problem
my wife has a Canon Elan 7e that I use regularly. Using our Canon 50mm f/1.7 normal lens works just fine, but when I use our Tamron 28-75mm and 70-300mm lenses, I get problems with the shutter locking up, and metering doesn't work either (flash in broad daylight and those types of things).
Any suggestions? I tried putting new batteries in the camera. I've tried cleaning the contacts in the lens mount and on the lens. Still the same problem, and it's getting more and more consistent, to the point that it almost always locks up.
Since the Canon lens seems to work, I lean towards a problem with the lens. Has anybody else experienced this type of problem? Any ideas of what it might be? Is it time for a service on the lenses?
Thankful for help,
sounds like the program chip in the lens is messed up, it probably needs to be sent to Tamron, The current line of Tamron lenses have a 6 year warrantee on them so if you purchased in the last couple of years, they should be able to look and fix for you.
I've had that problem over and over. We have three different EOS bodies and the Canon lenses all work fine as well as the newer off brand but there are a few off brand lenses we have that will not work with some of the bodies yet will work fine on the others. Seems a quirk in the programmimg and the bodies don't seem to be able to talk to the lens. I don't let it worry me too much, we don't use the 35mms too much any more, just on "lightweight" safaris and such.
