The DSLR listing seems to be universilly hated by APUGers I think B&WP could do worse than follow the example of a British Hi-Fi magazine called Hi-Fi World. They don't do the ubiqutous tables of Hi-Fi they do listings.
It might be worth outlining what this magazine is all about. Hi-Fi world does the normal CD players and even computer audio, but it also does entire issues on analog audio; record spinners, valve amps the lot. It will also review 20 old year old equipment, comparing it with the modern equivalent. It is actually a fantastic magazine.
Anyway, this magazine does not do tables listing the various features of the latest equipment, instead it has a listing of equipment old and new. But, here comes the rub, only of equipment that it thinks is any good. So, you'll have a 30 year old set of Quad speakers sharing the same page the latest set from Martin Logan. So, they list the load speakers alphabetically and then give a short description of the item saying what they think is so good about, how much it will set you back (new, or if no longer produced pre-owned), and also whether or not they think it's up to modern standards.
I think this sort of thing would go down far better with B&WP readers. You could have a Leica M3 next to a Leica M8, next to a Canon A1, next to a Canon D whatever. As long a the camera was considered good enough to be listed. Of course, people would disagree with the content. "Why isn't xxx included", but I think that's part of the fun.
