View Full Version : March of Film--Get Ready
02-20-2013, 09:06 PM
This is Just a simple post to share a project a friend of mine and I started last year. You can read more at http://www.marchoffilm.com.
How It Works:
A list of 10 themes will be posted on March 1, 2013
Choose one theme per week (or shoot them all!) by March 31, 2013
Upload your photos to our Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/groups/marchoffilm2013/) group &/OR post to Twitter with the hashtag #marchoffilm
At the end of March you will have the opportunity to submit your favorite MOF photos to be published in the first ever March of Film book!
Anyone can Participate, all we require is that you shoot, and interpret the themes we challenge you with.

If one's photo(s) are chosen for the book, do they get free copies?
What is the expected distribution range for the book?

Love the idea - BUT - What's the fine print? Who has rights to the work? Does the photographer receive compensation? etc etc...

I agree this looks very interesting and fun. Do you have any details about the book, selection process, etc?

OP has one post here. Probably a cut and paste blitz across many sites. Be interesting to see if and when he replies to these questions.

We are working on a FAQ right now; and will eventually post more details about the book, however for participation all we require as you shoot the themes on film and share them with world with the tag #MarchOfFilm.
The book is something we really want to do, we are still working on all the details and will be a second announcement after the month of March is over.
Any further questions can be asked here and I will happily get back to you, or by using the contact form on our site, or on twitter @marchoffilm.

What was the inspiration for this idea and what are the best parts / rewards for those who submit work? It can't really be "exposure" because that does not mean squat anymore as the Internet is slathered in amateur photography.
I have no intention of submitting my work as I am very much against web free-for-alls but instead want to look out for the community here.
Also, the book: What is the target market, press run, distribution region, shelf life, format, size, range of page count and price that way I can help participants gauge what to charge you for usage via space rates?
