Has anyone shelled out the $25 for Matt McDaniel's Wet Plate Quick Guide (http://shop.mattmcdaniel.co/product/wet-plate-field-guide)? Is it worth the cost, or is it a retread of information freely available in fora?

Thanks,

Dan

I do not know this guy, and not saying he's good or bad, but I would spend your dough a better way. It maybe a little more, but Will Dunniway's guide or France and Scully Osterman's guide starts at $35. They have been around a long time, and teach regularly. Then there is John Coffer's dvd and manual for $100 again, a master who has been at this a long time. Also Quinn Jacobson has some newer manuals out now, available in two volumes. one for making positives on glass and tin ($60) and one on glass negs and making prints for ($45) and access to videos as well. So this space is fairly well taken care of. That said, it's up to you. With the $25 offer, you only get a .pdf file, whereas the others, a real book!

I have a copy of Will Dunniway's guide to wet plate collodion in like new condition. I bought it thinking I would work with the medium but never did. I'll sell it to you for $26 shipped.

FWIW, Matt McDaniel's guide is now reduced to $10.

... and, in my opinion, Matt McDaniel's guide wasn't worth the $10.
