Hi

I'm coming out from lurking. I rarely do.

I found this site within the last month or so... I used to lurk on photo.net but I'm into B&W film ...

Normaly I never subscribe to a site. But this site is a bargain for the information it contains. I'm here to learn, I'm not smart enough to teach, my postings will be rare.

I spend my days developing software, mainly browser based accounting workflow type applications used within my employers intranet. Thats about as deep as I can explain and keep my job.

Film is dead? - I pass at least 9 places that offer 1 hour film developing on my 30 mile drive to work. And a new one is being built right now. Film is alive.

What I shoot -

I love shooting people, but I tend to be shy and don't take as many people shots as I would like. I especially like shooting kids.

I take a ton of flowers shots - cliche I know. But I shoot for myself and my own enjoyment.

I like shooting old run down things.

Equipment - I like to focus and set my exposure.

I have a couple Canons for 35mm - F1 & AT1
- lenses - 28mm(junk), 35mm (canon), 50mm (canon), 135mm (canon), 28-80 zoom(junk), 70-210 zoom(vivitar series 1), 400mm (pentax), 500mm & 2x adapter for 1000mm (mirrored junk)

Medium Format Yashica Mat EM tlr - great camera

4X5 - Aletta - I made this one - Goerz Dogmar 18cm (circa 1913)

Digital - I have a Kodak that I paid $1000, 5 years later it won't work with batteries, just the ac adapter. Its not worth fixing. What a waste. No way would I throw $$$ at something thats going to be worthless in a few years again. OK true - I have a Olympus digital $200, I use it for putting stuff on eBay.

Darkroom -

Beseler 45 MCRX
Rodinal Rules

For the occasions I shoot color, I have an Epson scanner and printer and I let someone else develop the negatives. But again, I sit in front of a computer all day, not going to do it all night.

A person who works all day with computers and who enjoys traditional photography. You'll fit right in here.
Stop lurking and join the conversations and galleries. Welcome.

Howdy from Louisiana.

"I like shooting old run down things." As I get older and more run-down, this type of subject matter appeals to me more and more. :D

Welcome Lurker!! ;)
This is a great place, and there is a lot of enthusiasm here for real photography. I'm sure that at some point, you will find yourself reading a thread, and thinking...hm...I should say something... when you get to that point...do it. :)
Again, welcome!

Welcome from another local. I also like to shoot old run down things as I'm an old run down thing myself. Guess those would be sort of self portraits!
