That is nice, indeed. I see some hexagonal "banding" around the edges of the lighted area---is that a scan artifact, or is it really there in the original image?

Sorry to be the voice of decent here, but you are not really looking at Andre's picture. In his original, the shadow of the prongs of the fork over the dish provide the information as to the shape of the dish. That's why it works.

It could be the scan i have bought Vuescan pro since scaning this shot and have noticed a big difference to light it i used one of my studio flashes with a snoot and just used the modelling light
