Gee Bob, that's a great idea - care to donate one? :)

Actually, my first idea was a round-robin where I would be first & last. I'd provide a certain Kodak 33A and the 1st person would fix the front standard, the 2nd would replace the bellows, the 3rd would refinish it, ... didn't think I'd get too many takers on that one though.

Dude, you dream WAY too much! :)

Sure Rich, come on in the water's fine!

Here's the list so far, this time broken up by geographic location:

1. gbroadbridge ----- Sydney, Australia (unverified)

2. janvanhove ------- Brussels, Belgium (unverified)

3. rst ------------- Germany

4. Ole ------------- Bergen, Norway

5. Bob F. ----------- West London, UK
6. TPPhotog -------- South Devon, UK

7. MattCarey -------- San Jose, California
8. Rich Long -------- Colorado Springs, Colorado
9. ggriffi ---------- Indiana
10. Suzanne Revy ---- Massachusetts
11. bobfowler -------- New Jersey
12. sensanjay ------- New Jersey
13. david b ---------- New Mexico
14. jnanian ---------- Rhode Island
15. nsmith01tx ------ Austin, Texas
16. MenacingTourist -- Utah

I have now emailed as well as PM'd gbroadbridge and janvanhove to make sure they're still interested as they'd replied to round 1, but so far not to this one.

Since we've had a few more join the list I'll hold off a bit longer before getting things underway. I did buy a 24-exp roll of FP4+ today.

BTW, lest anyone think that I was showing of my (nonexistent) command of the French language in the title, it was actually an appropriately stupid reference to the movie "Hot Shots, Part Deux" where it was basically a pun since it came out "Part Duh". Given the fine camera we're using it seemed like an apt description for round 2 :)

Looks like we're all aboard - all names are confirmed tho I don't have addresses for everyone yet. Guess we can give it another coupla days for anyone else who might be interested in getting in on the fun.

I welcome any ideas for routes, etc. I guess the last person on the route will be in charge of development & scanning. I guess there's nothing that dictates what order we do this, altho the European folks should probably be in sequence.

Thanks,
Nathan

oh - go on, I'll give it a go too .... if it's coming across the water, might as well make it stay a bit longer ...

18!

Welcome Leon! A quick look at your web site shows that you have experience with the limitations, uh, I mean challenges, of such camera :)

Please PM me with your mailing address so I can add you to the route.

Thanks,
Nathan

I'll just cast my vote for the black and white... is a HP5+ possible ?
Oops, missed the message where it says that there has been a fp4+ film bought... That's just as good, i'll be sitting by my mailbox for the next few weeks until I get it !

The camera seems to be set up for sunny-16 (or 11) with 100ASA film. Snag with that is that if it's not sunny, the film will be underexposed by 2 or 3 stops (worse if you take the position that 100ASA film is realy closer to 50 ASA in the real world. Given that it is better to overexpose B&W than underexpose (those pesky shadow details everyone keeps going on about ) I wonder if HP5 might be a better bet - given that it is probably closer to 320 ASA in the aforementioned Real World)....

OK, that's a convincing arguement ... does anyone else want to have a say in this? I haven't yet loaded the camera and I can always use the aforementioned FP4+ for other purposes so I don't mind going with HP5 if we have a general agreement to that effect.

So, on the matter of HP5 vs FP4+ what say ye? Do we have an aye, a nay?

Meanwhile, routing & shipping suggestions are welcome!

Thanks,
Nathan

Hi all,

Here is a suggested route:

nsmith01tx -> Texas
david b -> New Mexico
Rich Long -> Colorado
MenacingTourist -> Utah
MattCarey -> California
ggriffi -> Indiana
Suzanne Revy -> Massachusetts
jnanian -> Rhode Island
bobfowler -> New Jersey
sensanjay -> New Jersey
gr82bart -> Toronto
Bob F. -> West London, UK
TPPhotog -> South Devon, UK
Leon -> Kent, UK
janvanhove -> Belgium
rst -> Germany
Ole -> Norway
gbroadbridge -> Australia

Notes:
1) I assumed gr82bart's location as Toronto.
2) I voulnteered to ship the camera overseas.
3) I scanned the thread but didn't notice anybody volunteering to develop,
so I looked at the geographic locations for the route.
4) I can volunteer to develop the film, but it will have to be in a lab as I do
not have a darkroom.

Of course, suggestions are welcome to the above route/plan ....

Regards,
Sanjay

Thanks Sanjay!
You've definitely helped move things along, especially your offer to ship the camera overseas. I've PM'd gbroadbridge to see what he'd prefer to do. I think we may tweak your plan a bit as Bob F. has also offered to ship across borders.

I've also thought about running this one backwards from round 1 and shipping it to Australia as a first step. One thought I had about that is that if some overzealous customs agent opened the camera then the shots done in the US afterwards (the majority) would still be ok.

I do plan to tape a warning/plea across the film access button in back in hopes of avoiding that possibility.

Thanks again,
Nathan

Since no one's objected, I guess I'll load the camera with HP5+ later today.

I am going to ship the camera on Tuesday 4/26. We can accomodate any newcomers until then.

Here's a tweaked version of Sanjay's suggested route. Let me know if this works for everyone.

nsmith01tx ------- Austin, Texas
david b ---------- New Mexico
Rich Long -------- Colorado Springs, Colorado
MenacingTourist - Utah
MattCarey -------- San Jose, California
ggriffi ---------- Indiana
Suzanne Revy ----- Massachusetts
jnanian ---------- Rhode Island
gr82bart --------- New Haven, Connecticut
bobfowler -------- New Jersey
sensanjay -------- New Jersey
rst -------------- Germany
Ole -------------- Norway
janvanhove ------- Brussels, Belgium
mikeg ------------ Shropshire, UK
TPPhotog --------- South Devon, UK
Leon ------------- Kent, UK
Bob F. ----------- West London, UK
gbroadbridge ----- Sydney, Australia

All input is welcome.

Thanks,
Nathan
