Hi,

Does it make sense to add some lithium chloride to sodium chloropalladite solution in order to have a cooler print tone?

I am already using Fe Oxalate solution and equal amount of sodium chloropalladite solution and some sodium chloroplatinate as contrast agent (conforming the system of Dick Arentz)

I wonder if it could be possible to dissolve some lithium chloride in the coating solution to get a bit cooler tone.
I am happy with the paper I use(COT320) and the developer and the developing temperature(Pot. oxalate 33% at room temp. 22-25oC) so that I would like to not change them.

My second question is that for the same purpose, would the addition of Gold chloride work?

Your precious opinions will be appreciated.

HI Mehmet,

Personally I use Lithium palladium Cholride for my DOP Palladium print and it gave me the sae tone as does ammonium or sodium , or caesium salt. I do this because I print half ziatype and half DOP.

I think that the use of a different developer and a slightly acid developer will give colder tone.

When I want coldertone I use ziatype with gold and it works great.

Hi Nze,

Thank you for the info. I never experienced with ziatype, but I would like to do in the future.
As since a while I am printing with pure palladium, I am searching for a bit cooler tone with this process, but keeping the same developer as potassium oxalate.

For the more acidic developer, do you mean a potassium oxalate dev. with increased amount of oxalic acide?

Ziatype give neutral tone balck tone whitout any additive.

Yes I mean adding a little of acid to the developer, the more acid the more colder and the more alkline the more warmer.
There is also some cold tone developer formula available on the Sullivan book or in his book.
