OK, Ya'll asked for it... Here is a group picture Liz shot of the June 18th APUG Invasion of Asbury Park!

I've put up a web page (http://mysite.verizon.net/fowler/AsburyParkAPUG/index.htm) of the rest of the stuff Liz shot with her Yashica P&S. Click on the thumbnails for a larger view. We have higher res versions (4X6 inch @ 256 dpi) available, drop an email and we'll send you the ones you want.

Names?

Okay, let's see if I can do this--

Standing, L to R: Art with my 4x5" Gowland, Bruce and his Graphic, Tom Duffy with the big 5x7" Sinar P2, Jim "photobum" Rhoades with the Horseman, Bob Fowler who was shooting the 2D that's between Tom and Jim R., me with the Tech V with the compendium on the front.

Seated, L to R: A friend of Art's named Allen from an ICP class with the Omegaview 4x5" (and a Leitz Tiltall like mine, but in a chrome finish), Jim of aj-images (our fearless leader), another friend of Art's whose name escapes me, and Alex "highpeak.

Wow, that Liz is a great photographer. Why I'm the best looking guy in the group.

One thing that happend Saturday that blew me away was the guy who was passing by and "just happened to have" rubbing alcohol and Q-tips in his backpack so Art could clean the rollers of his Polaroid holder! (pix 018 and 019)

Come on Jim, fess up - you paid that guy to show up, didn't you?

hehehe

When I was behind the Casino, I ran into another Apugger. Must be another friend of Art!

This was shot/processed using the Zone system theory. I'm learning and I'm happy with the tonal range. I'm anxious to see other's photos, so please post them. - Jim

I've been trying to get into the dark to soup my stuff (and Alex's 4X5 shots) all week. I have a client meeting tonight, but with any luck, I'll be able to run them tomorrow evening.

I think I saw him too, he was loading a bag with cotton swab tips and alcohol.

Don't know what happened to him after that.

PS: It is a very well done portrait.

OK, this should REALLY be done as a PM or an email, but I wanted to share this with the guys...

I just souped your first 4X5 negatives - they look great! They're hanging to dry as I type.

OK, off to soup some of my 5X7...

Bob, thanks again for showing me the door to wonderful large format photography.

Yep, I am going to count some holder tonight. :)

I'm glad I ran your 4X5 stuff before my first batch of 5X7. Your negs are fine, but the first of two batches of 5X7 I ran this evening... well... let's just say that if you are going to process in Microdol-X 1:3, it helps to ADD the Microdol-X to the water. Yup, I "developed" four sheets of 5X7 in plain old water... Oh well, at least my last four sheets are fine (I just posted a scan of one negative).

BTW - I souped your Plus-X in Ilfosol-S 1:9, I find that's a very good combo.

Guess the water didn't work well then. Sorry for the negs.

Here is a couple of shots I made that day on APX100 and kodak HIE.

...another friend of Art's whose name escapes me, ....That's Chris who was shooting with a brand new D2X, which I won't hold against him (I have one too). He was intrigued with the 4x5s though.

That was a lot of gunk on my Polaroid back! Never been cleaned in a couple of years.

Chris was nice enough to let me fool around with it. He had an 85 f1/4 mounted on it. He was prepared to have me call it heavy, but compared to my Leica R8 with 80mm f1.4 I thought that the package was fairly light.

The autofocus (with more sensors than I could count) was nice too, though I much prefer the viewfinder, controls and focusing screen of my Leica SLR. We both have what we want, I suppose...
Take care,
Tom
