Hi All,

Just a thread to keep people updated on some of the new things which will be showing up today and tomorrow.

*new functionality*

The ability to "ignore" forums is almost 100%. It is working in the main forums now but not classifieds yet. If you are feeling adventurous and want to remove some forums from view (they will no longer show in the forums list, or the new posts list), then go to the main forums list:

http://www.apug.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=13

At the bottom of the list you will see "forum visibility settings"
click this, then put a check next to the forums you want to remove. Then click the save button at the bottom of the forums list. To add the forums back you can go into edit visibility mode again, and uncheck those forums, then save.

-to be added: instructions, link at the top of the forums list rather than the bottom, an "ignore forum" link in the posts list, classifieds area added.

New forum rules system is being installed. We are ironing out the official rules, and each member will be prompted 1 time only to accept the rules. The general forums will have 1 set of rules, and the off topic areas will also need a separate agreement because they will have different rules. This is all so everyone is on the same page. It is mostly generic stuff regarding harassment, spamming, etc

The New Forum

Most are aware a new 'anything goes' style forum is about to come on-line. Users will have the option to ignore this area, and the area will have basic rules regarding harassment but not much else. More details on this soon.

I'm looking forward to the new changes and hope it makes the site more enjoyable for everyone. Thanks, Sean

Wow, Sean! You've been busy! Geez, if this were your full-time job, I can't imagine everything you'd get done! :D

You're making me tired just thinking about it! ;) Thanks for such a great site & for being so dedicated! (Are you sure you don't have some clones running around???)

Ok, I was on a roll and have finished all of this project, so far very happy with everything.

We now have the new forum rules system in place. Everyone who has started a new thread from this point on, should now be prompted to accept our new forum rules. You should only have to do this once for the main forums, and once for the "soap box" forum (the new forum which is quite hands off from moderation). Also the ability to ignore forums is now in place, you'll now see the "ignore forum" link on each post. That takes you to the instructions for controlling all of your forums (at this stage you can ignore all the classifieds but not individual classified subcategories). If anyone has any glitches please post them here. Thanks!

Sean - never met you, never even had an exchange on these pages with you - but it is becoming very clear why people hold you in such regard. Wonderful!

Hi guys, I noticed if you go into the classifieds area, the "Edit Forum Visibility" link is at the bottom of the list of classifieds forums, you can then go into edit mode and hide individual classified forums if you like. Off to process a few sheets of 8x10, later! Sean
