I need help in finding an article that was recently published-now was it in ViewCamera or where?-about making contrast masks digitallyfor silver printing. And it wasn't too long ago either. Who knows?
Thank you, Peter

That's the July/August 2005 issue of Photo Techniques magazine. Probably still on the news stands, or you can order from www.phototechmag.com
The article is by Rich Milhorn, who scans a negative into Photoshop, creates a dodging mask, and prints it on an inkjet. He then registers the mask with the original negative and puts both in an enlarger.
He mounts the negative inside the carrier as usual, with the mask taped to the top side of the carrier – presumably the space between mask and negative softens the edges of the mask when the negative is in sharp focus.
He also uses yellow or magenta colors in the masks to provide local control on variable-contrast paper.
