....I just received this as a gift. It's clearly a reference book, and I just spent an hour paging through it. I'm sure there is much here to dislike, much here to like, much that isn't in the book. Those of you who like to look at books discussing the history of photography may want to take a gander at this.

It's heavy on text and light on images. But the sample image for Lewis Hine ("Faces of the hopeful, Ellis Island, 1910") knocks my socks off.

Anyway, it was a totally unexpected gift, and I ain't complaining.

I got one too. I never really needed to know the definition of a fourier transformation, but now I know...
