as i write i am escaping the winter in the UK and travelling throughout europe surfing and working on my photography. at present i am staying in Sagres, Portugal and regretfully both picture taking and surfing is out the window today because i am tired and hung over. coming from the UK i am not used to going out quite so late and partying till 7am.

what i wanted to ask relates to medium format lenses. can i buy a lense for my 'blad that has an aperture smaller than F22, or do i need to learn large format photography?

happy new year.

I haven't a clue what the answer is to your lens question but I would say that you need to learn LF photography anyway. Everyone should as it makes you way smarter!

They say that George W. Bush would be a better president if he just learned LF photography. It is said that Tony Blair is taking a LF class at the moment. How many years does he have left as PM? :-) Margaret Thatcher was a LF enthusiast until she became PM... Someone gave her a proto digital camera and look what happened!

Hey back, and gee, I feel so bad for you partying till 7am and not being able to surf. Not! Anyways, welcome here and how about some surf shots.

Well if you party enough you'll not need a lense to see past F22. Just stick a roll of 120 film in one ear and pull it out the other. Not sure what I mean by that. Godd luck here and on your trip. Show us what you get.

Hey Mark, Ya I hang out here way to much. Need to get a life! It has been a couple years. Pretty close to when Sean got it up and running. It has changed alot and gone through a couple major growth spirts but has maintained its original plan. In fact even though I've been shooting for a very long time this site is responsible for more of my growth knowledge wise than any thing I had learned for myself the previous 15 or so years. Love this place hope you dig in and enjoy it also!
