View Full Version : Famouse APUGers! I was wonder what famous people there are who are into Analogue photography, all I know is that here in the UK the Editors of both Amateur Photographer and B&W photography are film users, and there is also Andy Summers, former drummer with The Police, who likes to go out at night and do street photography with a Leica and Delta 3200.
BTW OT
Is it me or could it be that this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7575674176&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 looks like it just needs a battery? billschwab 01-02-2006, 01:39 AM Jeff Bridges and his Widelux: http://www.jeffbridges.com/
Dennis Hopper: http://www.artnet.com/ag/fineartthumbnails.asp?aid=8500
Just a couple off the top of my head.
Bill Andy K 01-02-2006, 01:44 AM I know Brendan Fraser is into film photography and shows some of his work on his website.
I believe Leonard Nimoy also shoots film and sells prints. MurrayMinchin 01-02-2006, 02:11 AM Me.
I happen to be the most unrecognized famous person in the world.

Ol' Mr. Hopper has some pretty neat stuff. So how do you know these people get there pictures using film BTW? I guess the same way we know you do, you tell us you do, why would the persons status in life have anything to do with their photography and what they use? If they tell us they use film, then I have no reason to believe otherwise do I?
Dave bobfowler 01-02-2006, 03:39 AM I ran into Bruce Springsteen a few times in Red Bank at the (now defunct) lab Foto Works. He was shooting 6x6 B&W (using a Hassey, IIRC). Monophoto 01-02-2006, 03:40 AM James Baker is a camera hobbist, I heard. But I doubt he's a member here.
I think you mean former Senator Howard Baker - shoots b/w in a 'Blad..
But a couple of names that no one has mentioned are Kenny Rogers (the singer) and Gerry Spence (the celebrity lawyer). They are both LF dudes. Rogers did a book of portraits several years ago, while Spence is more into the roots & rocks of landscape work. Monophoto 01-02-2006, 03:43 AM And we shouldn't forget the late Senator Barry Goldwater. firecracker 01-02-2006, 09:03 AM I think you mean former Senator Howard Baker - shoots b/w in a 'Blad..
You'r right. It's Howard Baker, I think that was him! Sorry, my mistake. If my memory is correct, he's been a classic camera fan and a darkroom user. He loves Japanese landscape etc according to the magazine article I read a long time ago. Not that I would really care though.
Right. James Baker is the one from the unfamous Carlyle group, which became a leading stock holder of Kocera/Contax not so long ago, and that contribes something to photography! roteague 01-02-2006, 09:24 AM I think you mean former Senator Howard Baker - shoots b/w in a 'Blad..
I believe he also shot color as well. He worked on some high profile wilderness and nature projects with the late John Netherton. bjorke 01-02-2006, 09:32 AM Ben Folds, who has shot his own album covers (e.g, "Speed Graphic" and "Super D") -- and thus is one of the few famous people known for actually making good pictures, not just owning gear.
(Annie Lenox too, but her pix are kinda teh suck)

He's quite a good photographer himself.
