Carol Craig 01-04-2006, 05:44 PM Kindermann in Toronto. http://www.kindermann.ca/Service/default.html BradS 01-04-2006, 09:11 PM I might also suggest Pro Camera up in Thousand Oaks. http://www.procamera.net/home.html Tom Hoskinson 01-04-2006, 09:39 PM Hi Carol! my vote is also for Pro Camera Service in Thousand Oaks California. disfromage 01-04-2006, 11:06 PM Carol, I can highly recommend 2 resources. Don Goldberg DAG Camera Repair 2128 Vintage Drive Oregon, WI 53575 608-835-3342 Sherry Krauter Golden Touch Quality Camera Repair 118 Purgatory Road Campbell Hall, NY 10916 845-496-8834 krauter@warwick.net I have used them both and they are the best of the best. Thanks for your work on the Angulon, it's great as always! Richard Wasserman Lee L 01-04-2006, 11:07 PM From experience Don A. Goldberg http://www.dagcamera.com/ and by reputation Sherry Krauter http://www.sherrykrauter.com/ Both have been around a long time. Sherry was Leitz tech, and Don may be factory trained as well. I think Sherry does Leica rangefinders only. Don does the SL and R series and other brands as well. Both have excellent reputations and reasonable fees. Lee edit: I see Richard beat me by a minute. ;) disfromage 01-04-2006, 11:16 PM Lee, we must have been typing at the same time! Both Don and Sherry are Leitz factory trained. Don also works on Minox cameras. In addition, Don's father was Norman Goldberg who among a few other things used to review cameras for Popular Photography Magazine way back when. Richard Wasserman Lee L 01-04-2006, 11:33 PM Thanks Richard. Didn't know about the Goldberg connection. I think the last time I read Pop or Modern was in about 1971 or -72, but I do recall Norman's articles. Just for emphasis, both Sherry and Don have superb reputations earned over many years. It's no coincidence that we both came up with the same two names. In fact I was surprised that they hadn't been mentioned yet. Lee firecracker 01-05-2006, 03:15 AM I used Golden Touch four five years ago, and I was pretty happy with the service I got. If it's still valid, I highly recommend it. The woman named Sherry was very nice. On the other hand, my experience with Leica Inc in New Jersey around the same time was just horrible. Twice in a row, they screwed up. Maybe it's just me and my poor M3, I don't know... df cardwell 01-05-2006, 08:30 AM YES: DAG & Sherry. And I'll mention here how much I miss Steve Grimes. ( he did a sweet M3 for me back in ... well, never mind. ) AND, if it isn't too far afield, for vintage Contax gear, Henry Scherer. Avoid anybody that puts his thumb on the viewfinder and says, " Gosh, I've always wanted to work on one of those ! " . Carol Flutot 01-05-2006, 11:02 AM Thanks everyone... I Really appreciate the referrals and information! Carol |
