OK... this is a totally biased post.
I was out shooting at a local museum all day yesterday,
the Leica hanging from my shoulder.
Never thought about it.
Realised I haven't thought about my camera staying put on my shoulder in a couple years.
The best camera strap, without question, ever...
the Upstrap by Al Stegmeyer. a shooter who had a better idea.
It's too expensive to find in a store.
It will keep any camera or bag on your shoulder
running, walking, or standing still.
Check it out, it works:

If it works, I can't see that $30 bucks is to expensive for a store, hell I paid almost three times that much for my OEM Mamiya straps...

I've heard about these from another mailing lists. Nothing but good things said.

Flexible; it conforms to your shoulder with no awareness that it's there.
I've carried my Leica M6 with lens attached and with the Upstrap attached around my shoulder for miles and never have to worry about it falling. It's ability to stay attached to my shirt or jacket is amazing!

My main concern with these is that they're only sized for 35mm cameras and I shoot much more medium format these days--particularly MF with the Hassy-style strap lugs, which I don't think he can accomodate. Is there some way to make this work?

From the FAQ:
" Hasselblad's system has a proprietary snap release.
The UPstrap can be attached to those snaps if you remove the Hasselblads strap.
Or you can purchase a spare set of snaps from Hasselblad and attach the UPstrap to those."
There are THREE MODELS
RF/DC: -2 1/2 lbs ( M cameras, Contax RFs, XPAN, small SLRS )
SLR: + 2 1/2 lbs ( F5, EOS, Hasselblad, RZ... all MF )
This strap is good for a Nikon with a 400/2.8,
so is pretty good for a Hassie !
LT: 2 1/2 lbs to 20 lbs ( Laptops, camera bags, #5 Gitzo tripods, 8x10 Deardorff, etc. )
