Hi all,
I've received an inquiry that could lead to my second(!) exhibit. (I have ten 11x14's and four 6x9's.) For reasons I won't go into here, I have five of the images viewable on the Net, but no more.
The potential exhibitor is asking for "no more than 10" slides of my work, for their review committee.
I have no slides at all. What are my options? I'm concerned that scans of the original negs won't show the nuances of the final prints. Scans of the prints are way costly.
Any ideas are welcome, thanks.

Just copy photograph on to slide film, and bracket all the exposures.
I've done this with success before. Fuji Astia a good choice for b&w or colour.

Around here, everybody wants digital files. No one wants slides anymore and fewer want originals (at least at the ouset of the process). Just confirm with the recipients what it is they prefer. If you can, just scan your negatives in and do that Photoshop thing and email the files or burn them to CD. That should "do you" for now. That is what I did recently - sent scans that in no way meet the prints`standards but they were happy with that. And so was I because that got me a show and a Grant as well. (Now, why the hell they are content with crappy scans rather than the real thing is discussion for another thread).

Slides for a B&W exhibit? I suggest that you talk to them again and make your concerns known, I'll be the person you talked to misspoke.

I wonder if it's commonly acceptable to shoot prints with a decent digital P&S, make jpg copies, and burn a CD for this kind of presentation or not. When you have actual prints and want the samples of your work, you don't want to overdo anything.

Starting from the neg scan for your B&W images just to create the samples is a real pain and really time-consuming. I do show my neg scans on occasions because they have already been worked from the very beginning, not because I want my images on a CD.

I shoot chrome film for black and white slides all the time. All the juryed shows I have been in have asked for slides of the work. Just shoot it on color slide film it will be black and white.
