When developing film ?

Im a geek. I find it amusing to watch the static flash come off of masking tape.

I have a large plastic container and I process film in front of the TV. I put all my developing SS tanks in there so in case anything spills, its caught in the platic tub.

Clean the bathroom I am using the processor in. Also pet the dogs so they stay out of the bathroom.

I usually lose myself in my own thoughts because I'm doing intermittent agitation in small tanks. Sometimes I plan for my domination of the world, at other moments I simply triangulate my next purchases or shootings. Occasionally I'll put on some music in the background.

I don't develop my own film any more and I rarely print my own paper. Since I shoot mostly colour transparencies or black & white transparencies. Now after watching Les do his magic in the darkroom, I may go back and start printing B&W but I'll still have someone else develop the film.

Crank up the tunes and dance in private where I can't hurt anyone.

I develop film in a Unicolor drum, on a Uniroller, on my computer desk, so I read silly threads on APUG, while keeping an eye on the Windows clock.

Uh, oh. Almost time for the stop bath, better stop typing now! :)

Lost in deep thought about what has been, what will be and what could be, all related to photography of course. One doesn't want to get too engrossed in extraneous activities or one's consistency may be compromised.

Listen to my iPod. Very loud. Most recently a Led Zep bootleg from the early 70s.

I dance as well.
Turn up the music (rock, swing, funk, etc), open the door and start dancing in and out the darkroom. Terrific sexual energy you know.

Masturb............never mind.

Honesty isn't always the best policy.

Like I said, all those liquids around, the music, the agitation, the rhythm, the darkness, the red light...

Try to get part or two of an R/C airplane glued on before time runs out.

Music. Loud music. CDs, not my digitally compromised iPod garbage. Real, full bodied CDs. Nigel Kennedy, Eminem, Beck, Astrud Gilberto, Johnny Cash, Miles Davis, Tom Waits. When I want to travel back in time, a time when life was less complicated, when kindness was more a practice than a metaphor, when seat belts were optional and the gasoline was leaded, I cue up some Pink Floyd and experience vicious flashbacks of my utterly preposterous youth.

I have just downloaded a few short feature films from iTunes that range anywhere from 14 to 40 minutes. They are located in the "Shorts" section (imagine that). Also TV episodes. This is a good way to pass the minutes. Recommended titles:

Our Time is Up (Hilarious)
Cashback
Six Shooter (Disturbing. A must see)
South Park Episodes

Sit there sweating wondering if this roll is going to be as screwed up as the last one. Lightning does strike twice.

I am dark for up to an hour if I am doing sheet film in open tanks, Without good jazz I would loose my mind. Although after enough time in the dark with Flim and the BB's playing I wonder if I am seeing colors or do I have a light leak.
