Does anyone know of a source of diced foam inserts in the UK? I've got a couple of hard cases that are eminently recycleable if only I could replace the inserts, but I've searched high and low with no success.

If you mean the soft kind of foam, here in Australia one of the best places for finding that is the kind of shop which sells fabric, dressmaking patterns and craft supplies, etc. They sell it in various thicknesses. Maybe you could try a similar shop in the UK.
