Hello to everyone out there! I recently joined APUG and think this a great way for trad photographers to meet and share ideas.

I don’t know if there is any other apuggers in my area but I frequently travel the Blue Ridge Pkwy and Shenandoah Nat Park and I live right at the intersection of the two in Waynesboro, VA. I have a fully stocked bw trad darkroom where I process my 120 film and shoot up to 30x40cm film with my big clunker Russian camera. I would say I try and use 8x10 bw the most. If you are travelling in this area and need to develop your bw film I may be able to help you out. I’m also toying with processing my own c-41 film but have not done it yet.

I posted a couple of images in the gallery if anyone is interested in checking out the way I shoot. I love really long exposures and try to shoot as slow as possible. This is not always possible here as we have some serious wind but I really enjoy having trees, water and other things moving around in my images. Thanks for reading my into!

Welcome to APUG! We've got a Mid-Atlantic chapter going now, and we're looking into doing something out your way for the fall, perhaps a trek over to Dolly Sods in West Virginia. You're of course welcome to come to any of the events you can make it to, and if you don't mind popping up to the DC area sometime, there's a small cluster of us mostly shooting LF in the area who'd be glad to meet up and do an informal get-together.

Sounds good I've been wanting to get over to Dolly Sods to do some shooting. Let me know when you all get together because there aren't many LF folks (or any folks!) in my area.

Welcome from New England! I do get down into that area from time to time and would love to get my film processed before leaving the area.

Welcome, you live in a beautiful area. I was just driving through that area about two weeks ago.

Welcome to APUG.

Welcome!

I'm heading down that way (Thurmont, MD) this Friday to attend a BMW motorcycle rally by the club out of DC. Taking my 15 y/o BMW, my 50 y/o Widelux, a Rolleiflex, and rolls of B/W. Expecting to visit Antietam and some historic cement mill / kilns relating to the Civil War while there.

Then in the evening I'm speaking at the Rally itself. I'm told weather's supposed to be good this year...

Best,

You'll still have quite a way to go (at least 3 hours more) to get to Waynesboro.

But, Thurmont's a great area to photograph, too. Go to Cunningham Falls State Park.

Welcome to APUG Harrigan, I'm just down the road from you in Richmond. I try to visit Shenandoah at least 1-2 times a month. I don't shoot LF, but it would still be nice to meet up sometime.

My old memory of living in Radford Virginia for about a year way back when I was an ESL student is fading out, but I still remember the places I visited in that region very clearly. I loved the whole valley. It's just so beautiful, to me especially in the fall. :)

Welcome to this site.

Travis send me a line when you are going to SNP. I'm about 5 miles off 64. We'll get you shooting LF yet!

Everyone is right this area is beautiful! Actually I just moved here from around the Radford area and this location is quite similar although 1.5 hrs away.

Thanks for all the words its nice to have a site with friendly folks!
