So I never introduced myself to Apug. My bad. I'm Chris, aged 25, from southern California. I got into photography starting with a Brownie Hawkeye in college. I was bored and needed a new hobby. After a few box cameras, I got tired of bokeh and graduated to a Kodak Vigilant Six-20 that became my buddy for 6 months in Europe.

I lucked in having parents who collect antiques and repair clocks. They actually were impressed when my 5x7 Korona View camera came off ebay, were fairly tolerant of getting a 4x5 enlarger in the mail, and I can steal Dad's screwdrivers to CLA 80 year old shutters. Needless to say, most of my equipment is at least twice as old as me. Then again, when you feel like you were a Victorian a century too late, really old equipment is fun and comforting.

My influences? I like Carleton Watkins, Arnold Genthe, Lewis Hine, early Imogen Cunningham, Ansel Adams' 1920s and 1930s work, Sudek of course, and portraiture when it was all LF. I'm intrigued by McDermott & McGough as well. Yeah, a diverse and contradictary lot but so is my music taste.

So thats a rough idea of me, hopefully I'll meet y'all at the next APUG conference.

A belated hello.

I am fairly new to APUG too and I can't remember if I introduced myself properly either!

Like you, most of my equipment is older than me as well. e.g. 1950's Rolleicord and Zeiss Ikonta and a few 1940's plate cameras.
I also modify and build various cameras my latest being a 5x4" non folding view camera which I want to rebuild as a folding camera soon.

Steve Smith.

Hello Chris and welcome from Australia. I also have many cameras from the fifties and sixties and unfortunately they are not older than me!

Hi Chris. Welcome from Canada. Many of the cameras I use are around 50 years old too. So am I.

Hello Chris
and welcome from the Pacific Northwest. It must be neat to have parents who fix clocks. There must be an image or two or a series to make at home?
