Hello! My name is Jonathan and I live in Morris, IL. I am a programmer by day (some of my peers might argue that I'm an APUGger by day :D ) and a photographer whenever time allows. I shoot whatever catches my eye but, more times than not, I find myself in the woods gazing at the trees. For this I choose my Rolleiflex. Anything faster than a tree gets the EOS 1V. All of it gets printed on my Beseler 67.
For me, learning photography has been (and continues to be) a completely visual and subjective journey. I'm not into densitometers, sensitometers, paperometers, or filmographs. The experts here seem to have that covered. And so I lurk........

Hey, lurk on. I haven't learned as much about photography as I have here. Some times it makes my head spinn. Welcome.

Trees are good. VERY good. And with a Rollei, even better.

Shooting only trees with a Rollei is like only playing Mozart on a piano.

Let's see some pictures !

We must be kindered spirits. I'm a lurker as well. Being a newbie, a lot of the questions I have are already answered and are only a search away. I'm from Indianapolis and also shoot with a rolleiflex (automat mx) and print on a beseler 67.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! It's good to be amongst friends.

Exactly! Everything I ever needed to know has already been covered here - and covered to the extent that I have nothing to add. But I have grown exponentially since lurking.

I actually loaded some pictures the other day. Unfortunately, I was a victim of "The Great Server Debacle of 2006". That's kinda good though...my scans looked aweful! I'll try again soon.

BWGirl - You've got the best quote - puts a smile on my face every time I read it!

Hi everyone! I was born and raised in Chiago, but live in Tempe, Arizona for the past 30  :o years! I introduced myself in another forum; however, I guess it "couldn't hoirt" to do it again: I was gifted my Minolta a few weeks ago, by my neighbor who I NEVER spoken to before--he simply placed this camera & its lenses, literally on my door-step!! :o  And who says miracles don't happen!!?? I have dreamed of becoming an artistic photographer for quite along time. I guess the Universe heard me!
Also, I am about to begin my 2nd semester in earning my A. A.S. degree in Web technology, in about 2 weeks.
Sometime soon I will post my 'images' & details of them, too.
'Til next time . . .

Ocj, again! Am I incorrect to believe that most -if not all, images within APUG are b/w? I ask because at this point my 'shooting' it is only color, thus far.

There's both color and b&w, so long as it's film-based! I shoot 98% b&w myself, but I've seen plenty of color photography in the galleries.

I've been a lurker for quite a while as well, as evidenced by my whopping 4 posts since my join date of Oct. '05 :D I'm coming out of the shadows finally! Hello from Kansas City, MO.. seems a bit south of most people on this thread. I was born up in Rockford, IL though.

Take care!

Welcome to APUG.

Sometimes it seems that most people shoot and post b/w images but there's a significant number of color shooters here that post in the galleries. It would seem that those numbers have been increasing in the past couple months. I too shoot primarily color.

Welcome from Brookfield Jonathan, I wish I could convince my wife to move to the beautifull little river town you live in.
