I have been trawling through the Magnum site and came across the famous results of her photo shoot with an ageing Joan Crawford. Reminded me of the ancient Egyptian art of mummification.?

I know what you mean. She allegedly offered to pose nude, but Eve turned her down. She has since said that she refused because it would have been degrading, and it was not in her nature to show her subjects in an unfavorable way !!!!

I like Eve Arnold's work very much. This photo is very powerful. Nice irony that about the "unfavourable way"! . Somehow it's acceptable, though cruel, because of what we know of Joan Crawford...
I think my favourite photos of hers are the Long Island pics she took in the '50's.
