Hi,
I'm choosing a printer because I would like to make some digital negatives in OHP, I have some negatives that I want to print by contact(PL/PD carbon or AZO(my favourite)) I saw two epson printers R1800 and R2400.
I don't know nothing about digital negatives, and I haven't a printer now, I would like to know your opinions and your advise.
Which printers should I choose? What about these two printers?
Another little question What book I must read to learn to make digital negatives?

Stefano,
The Epson R2400 is a better printer for making digital negaives, IMHO. I tried the R1800 and found it marginal for this purpose.
I recommend Mark Nelson's Precision Digital Negatives as the best in-depth book on making digital negatives.

The rumor is that Epson will be announcing at Photokina a new desktop printer that may replace the 2400, so you may want to wait before making any decisions.
Other than that I agree with what Sandy. You may wish to read through this thread as well.

I have and use the R2400. It works well in making digital negatives. You will also need (gasp!) photoshop or a similar digital imaging software and a scanner to digitize a print or negative.
I have used the Dan Burkholder method for creating digital negatives, but I have found that it does not work if you don't use the same printer make and model that Dan uses.
I think the Precision Digital Negative system adds some additional tests to make the application non printer specific.
I have several pages on my web site showing how I make digital negatives for platinum printing.

Joe, those pages are great. It's inspiring me to get out and try making more VDBs.

I'll wait after photokina to get my decision... If epson showed a new printer I would buy a new R2400 to a good price....
I saw your sites Joe and Juanito are great!

i'm using an Epson 7600, which uses the same inkset as the 2200. Using the PDN system, i've been getting very smooth tones. I'm using the negatives to print Ziatypes (with a color pigment layer)
