Join in on this fun little game. For a change, let's give our fellow APUGers some positive feedback.

Here's how it works:

Find the last person that has posted on this thread.
Visit his/her profile or website or other online protfolio.
Find your favorite of their and link that image here if you can.
Share what it is you like about this image. Only positive comments about the image. This is about being positive and finding what is GOOD about an image.

If this works as it should (that is, if people join in!) then this will go on for pages. The idea is to choose a photo from the last person that joined in.

And can we stick to the intent of this thread? No hijacking, no side opinions, no opinions on opnions, no snide remarks, no politics, no offering up of other ideas how to run this thread, no "I hate this place I am leaving!" comments, no moral preachings, no philosophy, no masking hidden agendas behind your remarks, no shilling, no quoting anything anyone previously said, no replying to previous posts, no egos, etc....

Being that I am starting this and no one has gone before me, I get to choose a person to start out with. I'll pick our fearless leader Sean and this is the image I like:

http://www.apug.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=15285

I love this image. This image brings me back to my childhood when our family would go on camping vacations in Banff or in the Laurentians. A small innocent child in a place free from the big bad world of corporate greed, politics and other human misbehaviours. Its a very nice image.

Regards, Art.

Ok I'll bite. Nice pic :)
I like the large/small contrast in it. The girl is so small and alone surounded by those huge trees. Makes me think "Alice in wonderland"
So here is mine

that image is wonderfully framed. the trees also seem to give a strange and eerie sense of solitude and I like that about it.

all in all, well composed, seen, captured, and printed.

Cool idea Art!

So, let's have a look at one of yours!

http://www.apug.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=19709&ppuser=440

You posted some photographs taken at night in the city, and I thought this was a nicely rendered detail of something we can so easily overlook, and the background light is quite fun!

I hadn't looked at Sean's photograph in awhile, it really is good, huh?

Boy did I get lucky being asked to look at Matt's work is a real pleasure.

http://www.apug.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=19417&ppuser=2057
I love the composition of this photograph and Matt's use of this format. For me this image has graphic lines as well as softer curved lines which IMO balance it very nicely.

BTW, I love the concept of this thread, well done Art.

Bill

Well, lucky me to decide on Bill`s work, easy choice for me.
For an old machinery lover as I am, this is a great photograph, the light, the contrast and the feel of the iron are just perfect IMO!
From so many possible options I will choose this one as I have it on my favourites list:).

I have commented on Bill's "Hold on to Yourself" before:
http://www.apug.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=18170&ppuser=1116

but I want to add that after some time, going back to it, I still wouldn't change anything about my comments on the excellent composition and strong but subtle emotions it contains.

So, in other words, a photograph that stands the test of time.

Andre jumped in while I was working on Bill, so its all fair, I have a menage a trois:

I can't link to my favorite of his, as its on his website and he uses flash (yuck), but its the one of the steam engine "office" with a view of its windo.
I love that even though the metal and the mechanics what I get out of the photograph is warmth and peace...

From another machinery lover, I have to say that I find the play between the curves of the cast fittings and the straight lines of the nuts along with the smooth change between light and dark along the cast portions is what draws me to this photo :

http://www.apug.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=8644&ppuser=3838

On my monitor it is fairly dark and the light areas show rough the cast would be were it not for what looks like years of polishing having taken off the sharp corners

From Suzanne and the decision wasn`t easy, I choose "Nonna with Eric"!
It`s a beautiful photograph, full of warmth, tenderness and love!

Thank you!

I think we skipped Soeren... I was posting at the same time as him and Matt, I think!

You've offered us a wonderfully dreamy abstract. Those colors are amazing, and the scale is very cool. At first I thought I was looking at some unusual building, but they are mushrooms, no? Cool scale. Do you have more work posted somewhere?

BTW, I think the Matt's linked photograph is great, and all comes together becuase there is a small circular table with a white cover right in the middle of the pews. It's a gorgeous image.

And Andre... "Nonna and Eric" is very near and dear to my heart!

Here's a favorite of Ari's

Quite simply a classic.

Yes, on an unfortunately rather dead website.

I don't have a scanner so I have to rely on friends for scans. I do have some slides I should dust off so I can get them uploaded here on APUG.

Well, it was a difficult choice from Suzannes gallery, but I have to say that 'Nonna with Adam' speaks volumes about love and tenderness. You captured the moment beautifully Suzanne. Blights.

Wauv, I love that one. I find it very original even though it might have been done before. A portrait of a girls back, at the same time grafic and full of tones. Well done Ari.

What a great idea, Art. I didn't see that Soren had a gallery image to look at, so I skipped back one poster to Blighty, and immediately found this:

http://www.apug.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=15162&ppuser=2878

What a great image! The comments on it alluded to it being "a slice of life" kind of shot, and I heartily concur. I love the composition, the focus on the child, and the sense of a moment in time in one family. Really nice work.

Soren, if I overlooked something of yours, please accept my apologies. :)

Here's one of terri's I like;

I'm a little weird........but it looks to me like some huge mashing device before those folks get dropped into the 'Humanoid mechanically seperated meat product' machine.

PS Great thread!

OK, My go.

Here's one of Murray's I like a lot.

I often try to get this type of woodland scene in interesting light but too often fail.

This one works very well.

OOPS! Me Bad...

I forgot to say what drew me to terri's image in the first place; how I like the full range of tones, and how I know the camera is looking up, but the lighting makes me think I'm looking down.

This is a really nice idea!

I'm a little confused about who I should choose but I think it's Steve?
I hadn't seen your gallery before, Steve, so thanks!

I like this one, the colours are superb and it's very evocative for me for family holidays when I was a child.
