Successful day yesterday. I am now the proud owner of a Wasp 5x4" condensor enlarger with Phago 150mm/4.5 lens, and a dry mount press plus accessories.
I am looking forward to spending an couple of evenings later in the week printing some 6x9cm negs from my Moscow 5 and starting to think about investing in a 5x4" monorail camera :-)

Lol! I don't know if Wasp is the make or model - I'm guessing it's pretty old though!

I thought a wasp was primarily an insect?

I thought it was an Italian motor scooter... http://www.motorbike-search-engine.co.uk/2005_Bikes/vespa_history.html.
Ah, a fatal mistake. Getting a 4x5 enlarger will inevitably mean buying a 4x5 camera soon - resistance is futile... ;)
Good luck with it, Bob.

Sorry about the historical inaccuracy. I prefer it to include "straight", though... it sounds so much more... puritan... of course, back then there was no question whether a man was straight or not, they just thought that the other guys were completely eliminated by the Spanish Inquisition

Show us a picture of the Wasp, if you are able to.
I suppose it is a UK-made enlarger - they seem to have somewhat peculiar names. Mine is a Gnome, and true to form it only takes 24x36 negatives (and barely, at that).

Don't be silly. It was a classic 1980's synthesizer.... http://www.vintagesynth.com/index2.html

I have just made a couple of prints. The lens is not as sharp as my 80mm Rodagon, but that is not altogether surprising. It does the job for now!
All in all I'm happy, and champing at the bit to get out and use my Moscow 5 so I have more big negs to enlarge!
