View Full Version : Can Bill Schwab and Les Mclean handle the strong Canadian Beer Bob Carnie 06-24-2007, 04:39 PM Ok so I got your attention.
This call is out to any Ontario and area APUGers.
Les and Bill will be having a show at our gallery on Thurs June 28 and we will be having a barbeque in the back yard after the show on Thurs June 28 between 5:30 and ?.
It would be nice for all area APUGers to drop by , see some amazing photography, meet the guys and put names to faces, we have an APUger from mid Canada and east Canada coming for the workshops and each night of the workshops we will be having informal gatherings in the back with beer and good laughs after the days work.
Fri night and all weekend the work will be at Elevator and as a bonus the winning prints from the Wedding Co national competition will be up as well.
If you twist my arm or get me a beer I will give an informal tour of our facility/darkrooms so you can look at the hundreds of prints lining our walls showing off our services.
I am really excited in having Catherine, Bill and Les teaching and if you are still on the fence there are spots open and would love to have you join us.
We are planning on running workshops here two to three times a year and bringing top notch instructors who can teach from their knowlege base using our facility and the great Canadian outdoors. I just finished talking to Sandy King and he is going to be here late fall for the third time since the original APUG conference. Tim Rudman showed an interest in winter landscapes and I hope to bring him back when the real snow is here so he and is wife can go on a snowmobile trek and lead a workshop around their visit. I know he is a bit spotty on the beer so we will have some Tetley tea here for him.
Bob roteague 06-24-2007, 04:47 PM There is no doubt about Les being able to handle the beer, none at all. :D FrankB 06-24-2007, 05:06 PM Can the Canadian beer handle Les...?! :D Black Dog 06-24-2007, 05:08 PM The jury's out on that one...:):) Dinesh 06-24-2007, 05:32 PM Having had the honour of drinking with both of them, it should be a great weekend! You seem to get around, Dinesh!!!! :p
Actually, these workshops look great, Bob, and I hope to get back up to Toronto again for some of Elevator's workshops. It just can't happen for me this summer, but I hope either Bill or Les and others will come back next summer for more workshops!! Or at least for the beer... :D
Maybe, by then, I'll be able to get back up to Canada for a weekend. Photo Engineer 06-24-2007, 06:42 PM You cannot buy beer anyhow, you can only rent it.
PE Mark Layne 06-24-2007, 07:18 PM Sad, I'm not going to be in Ontario till July. The beer will be gone off by then
Mark Drew B. 06-24-2007, 07:37 PM Now if a fine scottish ale was offered...(ie. Belhaven) I might take a quick spin up for a workshop. ...anything on the zone system? thebanana 06-24-2007, 07:41 PM See you Thursday for the BBQ. If my right hand man comes through for me I'll be there around 8. He's promised to buy beer for the weekend, so there will be no end of touring. or BS-ing:D frugal 06-24-2007, 08:04 PM While I no longer partake myself (just makes me ill now, think I'm allergic), I will be attending. Anything of an alcoholic persuasion that might be wanted from Nova Scotia? billschwab 06-24-2007, 09:25 PM I'm certainly up for the challenge!
Very much looking forward to it. See you in TO!

"... We are planning on running workshops here two to three times a year and bringing top notch instructors... "
... very nice from you Bob. Just thinking, will be and "Photo Engineer" included as teacher? It could be very interesting, and he is swimming distance from GTA.
www.Leica-R.com Photo Engineer 06-25-2007, 09:46 AM Well, I prefer the train myself. Better than the long swim over.
I don't even know when and where it is to tell the truth, and my schedule is pretty full. Send me a PM with the details and I'll thiink about it.
Thanks for thinking of me.
PE TheFlyingCamera 06-25-2007, 09:53 AM A Fosters distributor, a Labatts distributor and a Molson distributor are making the rounds of their local establishments to take orders. They all converge on one particular bar at lunchtime, and agree to share a meal. The waitress comes around and says, "can I get you all something to drink?". The Molson rep says, "I'll have a Molson." The Labatts rep says, "I'll have a Labatt's". The Fosters rep says, "I'll take an ice water". The other two look at him and say,"What's up? Why aren't you getting a Foster's?" He replies, "If you guys aren't drinking beer, neither will I!"
(DUCK) Bob Carnie 06-25-2007, 10:00 AM Are you sure that wasn't a Old Milwakee rep, a Schlitz rep and a Budwiser Rep?

Allow me to introduce you to "Three Philospohers", a lambic, brewed by the Oomergang Brewery in Cooperstown, NY. At 9.5% you become very philosophical after 750ml. :D Bob Carnie 06-25-2007, 12:38 PM I use to be called five beer bob, then 3 beer bob and now its 2 beer bob
