I was having a bad day, but I guess sympathy is not forthcoming. I will go now and curl up with my blankee and teddy bear.&nbsp; My tantrums, while noisey are short lived.

And BTW I never got a color postcard!&nbsp; Grumble grumble...</td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'>
Eric,
As an american I'm sick of hearing about us as if it only matters when it happens here (especially to middle class caucasians). And if you say anything about it, in the general sense, you're unfeeling in the specific.

We had our last snow, I hope, over a week ago, and hail the size of golfballs last night. I missed it. I was watching '8 Mile' and feeling all warm and fuzzy about my hometown. If you haven't yet, and wish to see my favorite architectural subject matter, watch it.

Meanwhile, color cards it is

Thanks Donald,
Yes the undecipherable signature is me. http://apug.org/forum/html/emoticons/smile.gif My handwriting really suffered when I entered college some years back and had to type everything. It still hasn't recovered yet. I liked your photo, I had no idea that Kansas had clifs like that. I usually think of the southwest when I see cliffs like that.

Eric,
I will say, that having lived in the mountains of Colorado some years ago, that I do relate to your feelings and the high incidence of "cabin fever" this time of year. I used to wonder "will this ever end?"

Scott, Thanks for your understanding, I will remember who you are from now on. Besides I have a sample of your handwriting now...Actually, the photograph I sent is our sole defining characteristic apart from flat...and I mean the whole darn state...350 square miles of flat...and more flat...talk about boring. Later.

Postcards ready to go.

In an attempt to add some colour, I decided to split-tone them in yellow and blue. I discovered that while the yellow toner has survived, the blue toner concentrate did NOT like to be left unused for 15 years. But I don't think I will complain to Colorvir about it...
The blue toner did make a difference, however. Just not blue - or green, either. More like a "deepening" of the colour?

Consider this an experiment in image stability. I printed up a bunch of prints, toned them in overexpired toner, then I'll send them all over the world to see what happens.

Please let me know if they

A: Fade
B: Turn blue, or
C: Explode.

Ole

PS: The photo was taken in one of Hening's favorite locations - sorry 'bout that, Henning..

I got Ole's and Nigel's today. Both great images.
Ole, it didn't explode or turn blue. The color is real subtle. A nice effect.

Ah - you got one of the subtle ones!
Others are not so subtle, ranging to "definitely garish". Getting the toning consistent was so much more difficult than I thought that in the end I just didn't bother...

Next card in the planning - thinking of a "figure study" this time. Untoned.

Blue? no sign of blue here! Maybe about to explode though... one corner looks like someones tried to pry it apart!

ahh I see I must have got the untoned variety...

Ole

Mine arrived today and is a nice deep yellow and I do like the small perfect rectangle of faded color around the top of the arch.

Nige,

Like the bike, it looks like a close up of a fly!........well use your imagination

That will be another sheet of plate glass reflecting the sky, I think. I've no idea about the reason for that sheet, but the rest of the church consists of plate glass wherever the walls haven't been rebuilt. There's probably a good reason for it all, but to me it's just a perfect sunset reflector http://apug.org/forum/html/emoticons/wink.gif

Maybe we should all send self-portraits to scare her off??

I received a small print from Les today. I won't call it a postcard, it's far too nice for that! He seems to be enjoying having his darkroom in place http://apug.org/forum/html/emoticons/smile.gif

Eric,
I always tell my daughter that is just as easy to learn to love a rich guy as it is a poor guy. So far, that pearl of wisdom seems to have escaped her, judging by the slugs she sometimes brings home to eat us out of house and home.

I also received Les's phenomenal tree stump, which reminded me not so much of Weston, to whom it was dedicated, but of one of Mapplethorpe's florals for its feeling of motion and use of light.

Les, image aside, what kind of paper is that on, and is it toned? I like the weight and the surface.
