View Full Version : Postcards Just got Aggie and Scott's this morning. Nice stuff guys! Since I am getting you to send them to my work, the whole office is taking an interest in my mail! http://apug.org/forum/html/emoticons/smile.gif
On a administration side, do you all check the list for new participants, or would you like me to send a msg when we get a newbie? David A. Goldfarb 03-05-2003, 10:10 PM Nice one, Aggie! It arrived today.
I think I'll just check the list before I send out a new card, so I don't think you need to email me as new people sign up. I've got the two that I have received pinned to my cell... er... cube wall at work. People are interested! Aggie 03-06-2003, 01:08 AM .. fingel 03-06-2003, 01:33 AM Hey Guys,
I have another batch almost ready to go out. I am trying out my postcard stickers this time so let me know how they hold up in the mail. Thanks.
Scott
P.S. This is fun. If the stickers work well, I have some other things that I want to try. Aggie 03-07-2003, 02:54 AM .. It's always open to newcomers.. in fact we've had an addition in the last couple of days... Mr Callow! Sean's updating the list this weekend.
Anyone who wants to join the list just needs to send me their APUG name, Real Name, Postal address & e-mail addy. i add to the list and send it to Sean to upload to the site.
I'm trying to decide how I'm going to collect/display them. Aggie 03-07-2003, 11:10 PM .. Those are some nice looking images, I wonder what they look like in person. Anyone get my postcard yet? Aggie 03-08-2003, 12:27 AM .. Aggie 03-08-2003, 04:05 AM .. Great postcards, everyone!
I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't get around to printing up a batch before I had to go to work again, so now it's another 2 weeks... I had even decided on the picture!
Mine will be coming.
Eventually.
By burro http://apug.org/forum/html/emoticons/wink.gif From Norway, by burro... Yikes! frank 03-09-2003, 04:59 PM Sure hope that burro can swim!
I had my cards finished a week ago but only just mailed them yesterday.
65cents Cdn to the USA, $1.35 internationally! each!
I checked the postcard addresses page but didn't see a Mr. C. I sure would like to get a picture of his wife if she is indeed verfy good looking.
Frank in the frozen North Got Nige's this morning. Looks beautiful! Is that Afga Neutol WA soup?
Brian Mark in SD 03-10-2003, 05:13 PM Hmmm....This sounds like fun but...
No darkroom and just standard commercial 4x6 prints. Don't know how they would stand up to being mailed.
Any suggestions? Any idea as to which paper would work best (Glossy or Matte)?
If I can work out how to participate with decent results, I'll send in my address. I think Matte always mails better, and you can purchase stickers to put on the back from B&H. David A. Goldfarb 03-10-2003, 06:24 PM I think you're right that the Pearl finish stands up to the mail better. I prefer the look of the glossy, but the glossies I've received all have some abrasions from the mail.
Got yours, Brian. Nice scene! </span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td>QUOTE (bmacphoto.com @ Mar 11 2003, 05:44 AM)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'> Is that Afga Neutol WA soup?

It was toned in Agfa Viradon (with no bleach step). Developer was probably Neutol NE. I use both NE and WA but have not really done any back to back comparisions. I really think with Agfa RC paper, you'd need to have them side by side to pick a difference. The WA doesn't produce a warm image like I expected, but that could be the paper. FB might be a different story. I will have to try a serious test one day, and it just happens that I picked up some real cheap the other day so will be able to mix them up at the same time http://apug.org/forum/html/emoticons/smile.gif
Mark, I'm pretty sure a machine print will be fine. You probably don't even need the 'postcard' sticker, just write the address in the appropiate spot and stick the stamp on! I'm intending the send some inket printed ones at some stage, although I printed my 2nd one yesterday on the postcard paper. David A. Goldfarb 03-10-2003, 06:49 PM I just got Scott's. I like the FB paper with the postcard sticker better than the Ilford MGIV RC postcard stock. I think when I run out of postcard stock, I'll get some stickers. fingel 03-10-2003, 11:56 PM Thanks David,
I was a little worried about how the fiber would hold up in the mail, but it sounds like my
little experiment was a sucess. jd callow 03-14-2003, 02:51 PM I recieved 2 post cards from David. Both are outstanding. I still oweFrank, Brian, Nigel and Scott postcards and am about to print a second batch of a different image. Aggie 03-14-2003, 04:29 PM .. jd callow 03-15-2003, 09:48 AM Ok I'm sending out a new batch today. This postcard represents my current/new photographic pursuit. I hope you like it
