Not early...

Very, very late http://apug.org/forum/html/emoticons/smile.gif

I had been up late using film and drinking coffe alternating with whiskey all night. That time of year it doesn't really get dark at those latitudes, just twilightish around midnight. While this was above the arctic circle it was a few weeks too late for midnight sun. But still, no real darkness. Nothing you can't cope with with Delta 3200. The sun came sliding up, so I swapped magazines on my Bronica. I still can't understand how I remembered to change my exposure when going from 1600 to 40 ISO...

Ok, next batch in the mail. Now Aggie if you don't get it this time it's a plot!

I'll have a new set in the mail early this week. My darkroom / garage is way too hot and really dusty right now (as everyone on the portfolio list will see from my print http://apug.org/forum/html/emoticons/sad.gif ) so I have been experimenting a bit indoors, I hope I don;t get kicked off of APUG for it. heehee.

Hi everyone...

I'm thinking of 'enhancing' the initial page describing the Postcard List, and was thinking of adding some pictures! Who is ok with me scanning their card and incorporating into the page? I intend to show them warts and all, ie. postal barcodes imprinted, the reverse side (with my address changed http://apug.org/forum/html/emoticons/smile.gif ) and dog eared corners. They will be pretty small, bit bigger than a thumb nail.

Nige.

sounds good to me. I'd like to see all the ones I haven't gotten.

hehe @ Brian!

Raises an interesting question or two...

Do any get pinched in the postal systems...
Do the automatic sorting machines eat them...
Do ones with address they can't read get sent to Santa...
At what point does one stop sending the same card to everyone on the list?

Scanning is OK with me too - and I don't mind small size (mine wasn't all that sharp)...

I'm okay with scanning too. Frank

Sorry Nige, I've only just seen your post - I've been in France for a few days. The only way I can think of to express my name phonetically is 'Ai-yul-za', but even that doesn't look particularly accurate! I've had some interesting pronunciations, and spellings, over the years.

My next postcard will be sent in the next couple of days. I've also got a third that I printed last week, but have now decided I don't like! Am wondering whether to send it anyway...

Thanks Ai-yul-za for the copy of the mag. It seems very well done. If you guys are still doing the readers section, I will probably send some over. I want to finish my darkroom first. But then...

Ailsa,

My vote is to send it anyway. To save you from commenting on each card, you could comment on it in this forum and explain what you find unpleasing about the image. One learns more from mistakes than from successes.

Nige,

I imagine that Les' new address and the new members' addresses will be added to the list soon?

Frank, yep... I'm sure Sean cringes when he see's mail from me! (ohh no, another file to upload!) http://apug.org/forum/html/emoticons/smile.gif The revisions are in the file I sent with the e-mail so if your desperate to send new members (and address revisions) import that file into Excel/Word/etc

Good idea. I'll comment on it once I send it. I've only just posted my second card, which I DO like, incidentally. The third, which will follow in a week or so, is the one I'm a bit iffy about.

Just one question - if we learn more from mistakes than successes, how come I'm not already the greatest photographer the world has known?

Thank you Sean!

To Ailsa,

who wrote "Just one question - if we learn more from mistakes than successes, how come I'm not already the greatest photographer the world has known? "

There are 2 possible explanations for this:

a) People just learn at different rates, and

http://apug.org/forum/html/emoticons/cool.gif We are all somewhere on that journey to become the best photographers we can be given inate aptitude, and the amount of time spent learning

(You can join me in the slow group if you wish.)

I haven't had much time to print in the last couple of months, but this weekend is looking promising.
