View Full Version : Postcards Everyone seen the Ilford 'Postcard' paper you can buy? It's regular RC paper with postcard (stamp goes here, etc!) markings on the back.<br><br>I actually use the stuff for thank-you cards and even a birthday invitation to my son's 1st birthday! I've sent a few as postcards but they weren't linked to one of the lists.<br><br>There's a few 'postcard lists' on the 'net where you your supposed to print a pic on the postcard stock (you could use normal paper as well) and send to other participants whom hopefully send you one back. I'm not a fan of publicly displaying your address on a WWW page, so I was thinking if this was thought a worthwhile endevour, our hosts could whip something up where you need to be logged in to the site to view the list of participants, or I could maintain it off-site. The Traveling Portfolio is getting underway and the prints that will be submitted will be marvelous, and there's been talk of 'print swaps' (which might be happening as I type!) but I was wondering if anyone wants to start a Postcard List style of exchange. Might be a simple and easy way of getting started and comfortable with sending stuff to a group of unknown people ;)
I'm going to print half a dozen or so and offer them to whoever wants one to kick start this... e-mail me an address and I'll send you one!
Any thoughts? If I had a postcard -
I used my last postcard-printed paper (Tetenal) for a Chrismas card 4 years ago - and covered it with a polariod transfer!
Here's the version I mailed to friends: D*mn - killed another thread!
I'll buy some new postcard paper today. Promise! haha!
thought I'd replied to your original posting but obviosly didn't... your polaroid transfer was very nice and unique.. a one off! The receipents would have had to liked/enjoyed it! David A. Goldfarb 02-03-2003, 07:20 AM I like it. Maybe Sean can use the Travelling Portfolio pages as templates and we can create another secure page for addresses and info on a postcard exchange. Aggie 02-03-2003, 02:37 PM .. Les McLean 02-03-2003, 04:51 PM I'll represent the Brits, count me in. Ok Nige, you're in charge of this one. Compile a list and we'll get it posted http://apug.org/forum/html/emoticons/wink.gif David A. Goldfarb 02-03-2003, 05:52 PM You can take my address and probably most of the others who have spoken up thus far from the Portfolio mailing list. ok, I "volunteer" to be the Postcard List custodian.
I'll compile the addresses, grabbing from the portfolio list for those listed, and anyone else that wants to be listed, email/message me. I'll 'talk' to Sean about doing a secured Postcard list page like the portfolio's. Count me in too.
I can't promise anything like the example above - I don't want to think about what te postal ssystem could do to it - but at least I'll get a picture made! David A. Goldfarb 02-08-2003, 11:07 PM Okay, I printed up a batch of cards this evening. This is the first time I've tried to do an edition of identical prints using my Graflarger cold light back, and that Metrolux timer I've been putting off buying has moved to the top of the list of priorities. As long as you don't all get together and compare your individual copies of my postcard, I shouldn't be too embarassed. haha! you should be pretty safe!
Just rebuilt my PC due to a very sad HD that has been dropping sectors daily... I will contruct the list and we can get posting! Aggie 02-09-2003, 03:29 PM .. David A. Goldfarb 02-09-2003, 03:38 PM I think the idea is that you print up enough to send one to everyone on the list.
Now are we all going to send them out at once on a regular schedule, or whenever the inspiration strikes, or what's the plan? Sean has ok'd our secure page like the Portfolio. I just have to e-mail him the pages I've wacked together.
Since we only have 6 people on the list (about to be sent to Sean) I was going to send one to the other 5 participants. I think you just send them whenever you've printed up a batch with no real formality. Keep track of who you send them to, and if they don't reciprocate, put a black mark against their name http://apug.org/forum/html/emoticons/wink.gif If the list grows to "lot's and lot's", then I would guess you just pick new names each time you send some out and keep a record so you don't keep sending them to the same people!
Any thoughts on the operation of this, please add. I'll hold off sending Sean the intro splurb in case someone comes up with a good 'rule' fingel 02-15-2003, 12:10 AM Hey everyone, this sounds fun.
You can count me in. How do I sign up for the exchange?

Hey Aggie, I finally joined. Thanks for pointing me to this site. Aggie 02-15-2003, 12:25 AM .. To join the postcard list, email/message me your Name, Address, email addy and APUG name and I'll add you to the list. I've sent the initial list to Sean who's aiming to set it up this weekend. Once Sean has set up the pages, or for future particpants, I'll send the page details.
I'm going to print a batch tonight! I got a postcard from David in the mail this morning. woohoo! Man, I need a view like that! I'm going to print mine up this weekend. David A. Goldfarb 02-24-2003, 02:02 PM Heh. I sent out two cards. You must have gotten the front yard. The back yard should show up shortly. Aggie 02-24-2003, 03:30 PM .. fingel 02-24-2003, 06:17 PM I got David's cards also, I love the view.
Hopefully I can get in to the dark room tomorrow and print up some postcards.
Thanks. Aggie 02-24-2003, 06:31 PM .. |
