Hi!

My name is Juho Rantakari and I live in northern Finland, in a city called Oulu. I'm 17-years old and started analog photography couple years back when I developed my first pinhole shots during my art class. Nowdays I use my high schools darkroom and develope my own films and papers. It's sad that I'm so young because nowdays it's becoming harder and harder to find film and chemicals especially here in Finland. (Well, I'm glad that I can still experience this :-)
I mainly use 35mm format, my workhorse camera is a Olympus OM-2. My favorite film has to be Adox CHS 25 or 50 and I mainly use Ilford-brand papers.
My favourite subjects are people, industry and street shots. I've been wanting to get into studio photography but haven't made much progress there. (Well, I've got time)

Most of my work is on paper and I give the prints to my friends. I've scanned some and here is a little folder I gathered a while ago. It's from a burnt power plant/school here in Oulu called "Myllytulli" (I guess I broke some law when I was there without an permission :-)

(Sorry about my grammar mistakes and such, I'm not that good at english. :-)

Welcome Juho,

APUG always need more of us Scandinavians. We have a few nore Finnish members, I'm sure they will join the "welcoming comittee" soon. :)

It's sad that I'm so young...

Dear Juho,

No, it's not sad. It's good news. Pressure from people like you will keep film alive far longer than we can (I'm 40 years older than you).

Would that I spoke any foreign language as well as you speak (or at least write) English.

I especially liked 3 and 7 (numbering left to right, top to bottom).

Welcome!

Cheers,

Roger

Hello from the Isle of Wight (hanging off the bottom of England).

Don't worry about your grammar - there are plenty of native English speakers who do not do so well as you!

Like Roger, I also liked images 3 and 7 as well as No. 12 (using his numbering system).

Juho,

Welcome from Hawaii. Glad you see you have joined us, and glad to see that you have an interest in traditional photography. You will find this more than another Internet forum, you will find it a community.

Welcome from Thunder Bay (often known as "Little Finland"). My neighbours on either side of my place on Warnica Lake are Holopainen and Koiranen with Korhonen and Pennanen on either side of them. Wish I could speak Fin.
