View Full Version : Happy Thanksgiving to all my Northern Friends Bob Carnie 10-03-2007, 06:10 PM Hello fellow APUGers
I am about to leave for the weekend to take some photos and enjoy the Canadian Thanksgiving Weekend at a School House with Laura Barney and Lucy. I am looking forward to the fresh air, beautiful colours of our landscape and some good food and ale.
Enjoy this weekend , load up on the turkey, as we know the cold air is about to hit us and soon we will need our Parkas ,so enjoy while we can.
Bob copake_ham 10-03-2007, 06:50 PM Wow, it seemed a bit early for a Canadian Thanksgiving wish until I read that Bob was getting a bit of a head start.
I'll be down in Tucson on Canadian Thanksgiving (which is the US Columbus Day holiday) helping my Canadian friends move into their new condo!
Go figure.
Anyway, to all of our good friends Up North (with the parity - or maybe even parity+ dollar) have a Happy Thanksgiving! :D Mike Wilde 10-04-2007, 07:48 AM I associate this weekend with putting on a big wool sweater and going for a walk with the family to aid digestion after downing a big load of turkey. Usually there is a fair bit of the kids, shod in rubber boots kicking at wet fallen leaves.
This weekend in my part of the country the weather is called for being more suited to t-shirt weather, with some late day showers later in the weekened due to humidity build up.
Guess it's to do with all that good old global warming. Of course my family of four is all loading into the car to go 150km to go my moms for the bird, so we too are part of that problem. Craig 10-04-2007, 09:39 AM Come west, it was pretty frosty this morning. The leaves are in full colour and I expect that most will be on the ground by Monday. Rob Skeoch 10-04-2007, 10:13 AM Looks like it's going to be a great weekend weather wise... of course I'll be eating turkey not shooting.
In fact it starts today with a staff turkey lunch at work.
-Rob Brian Gatien 10-04-2007, 12:00 PM Here in Northern Ontario, it is supposed to be rainy on Saturday and Monday with sunshine on Sunday. But unseasonably warm.
Not to worry about weather though; kids coming home from college and university and southern jobs. Should be a great weekend to give thanks.
And get ready for the provincial election and referendum on Wednesday. I suspect the range of political opinions of my kids will make for a lively turkey dinner.
Brian dferrie 10-05-2007, 10:56 AM Happy Thanksgiving Weekend to our Canadian friends, hope you all have a good one, will raise a glass in your honour this weekend.
David thebanana 10-05-2007, 01:33 PM We'll have our traditional turkey dinner on Sunday, which is predicted to be sunny and warm (+16c) for this time of year. Our 3 sons will all be in one place for the first time in months along with my sister and her husband. I'm looking forward to 3 days off work:D
Gobble gobble..... Les McLean 10-05-2007, 02:27 PM Happy Thanksgiving to all our Canadian APUGERS from the other side of the pond in the Scottish Borders. I'll raise a wee, even large, glass of the amber falling down nectar in your honour. ;) foxyscootie 10-05-2007, 04:10 PM Happy Thanksgiving Canadian APUGERs :-) PhotoBob 10-07-2007, 11:07 AM Well thank you all and HAPPY THANKSGIVING to y'all as well.
Today ... looks not too bad out, i.e. it isn't raining.
Wow, I can even see some blue sky.
Potluck after church today then my wonderful wife is planning for a turkey dinner tomorrow.
Take Care, Just curious,
What is the official traditional dish of the Canadian Thanksgiving? In the US it is the roasted Turkey. BWKate 10-07-2007, 08:19 PM Happy Thanksgiving,
Just heading over to my mom's for turkey dinner! MP_Wayne 10-07-2007, 09:02 PM Just curious,

Well, with all the ice and snow up here, nearly year round, the favourite dish for Thanksgiving is actually Baked Alaska. We try to reserve our roasting for our "deserving" politicians with two conditions:
[1] We roast them year round
[2] We are never in a state of Thanksgiving for them - more like a fatigued resignation at having them around - not unlike death and taxes...
